This welcoming holiday home is set in the pretty Devon village of Axmouth, just 1 mile from the coast and a paw-friendly beach. Sleeping six guests and three hounds, the property is ideal for large families. There are dog walks in all directions, either following the South West Coast Path, the river, or the country lanes. The bustling seaside resorts of Seaton and Lyme Regis are within 7 miles. In the evenings, dine in your enclosed garden or snuggle up in front of the wood burner.

The spacious abode has a homely feel and a subtle seaside theme. The inviting lounge has plump sofas and ample space in front of the wood burner for the pack to toast their toes. The bright and airy kitchen/diner opens onto the garden, making it the ideal place for setting up the dog beds. Whip up tasty dishes for everyone in the sleek kitchen, to enjoy together around the dining table overlooking the garden. There’s also a breakfast bar for informal dining. Upstairs, you’ll find the three bedrooms, one of which is a children’s bunk bedroom. A family bathroom completes the accommodation. The large garden is fully enclosed and has a lawn for the woofers to charge around on and a patio with furniture for dining in the sunshine.

A 1-mile river walk takes you to the pretty Axmouth Harbour, where you’ll find a cosy pub and beautiful views. Just along the coast from here is Seaton Beach, which is a 1-mile pebble beach with woof-friendly sections all year. The town of Seaton has some lovely independent shops and eateries, and you and the hounds can also board the heritage trams to explore the surrounding countryside. Photos of the property are slightly misleading as it appears that the property is set back from the road. However this is not the case, the drive opens onto a fairly busy road and manoeurving in and out of the driveway is difficult. Parking for 2 Cars is tight.

Superb location. Two pubs in the village, ship inn superb food. 25 minutes walk to beach, views of river from house. House was not overly clean, mould in bathroom, bath tub not clean, kitchen floor filthy, etc. Bedding and towels were clean.

A great cottage in a great location. Very well equiped and great pubs either side. If The Harbour Inn had The Ships menu, it would be the ideal pub....although The Harbours carvery on Sunday was superb. The entrance to the driveway is very narrow if you have a car larger than Focus or Astra and will struggle to get two on there if you have. The garRead moreden and equipment are very good and a lovely sun trap into the late evening. Hide

It was well equipped and comfortable but could have been cleaner in certain areas. Not sure it would be warm enough in cold weather.

Nice location and easily accessible for places to visit. Pub is next door so be aware of some noise until 11pm although the food is excellent. The property could definitely benefit from a guide book not only places to visit but also numbers such as doctors etc if needed. A lovely small village but quite a busy road right outside with limited paveRead morement space. Something to be aware of if you have a buggy/ disabled person. Hide

We loved our holiday at The Pidgeon Nest. The Ship Inn next door is great for food and the Harbour Inn has a lovely garden. The property was extremely clean and the owners were really quick and helpful when we had small issues. We can definitely recommend, especially with small children as all the equipment is provided for free. The garden is especRead moreially delightful on a summers evening. Dont hesitate to book! Hide

Overall, this property is exactly as advertised, though we wonder if car parking for two might be a struggle with the slim gateway. A second car might be better on the road. Generally We found it to be clean and having most of the basics needed.

We had a really lovely stay in Axmouth. The weather was beautiful, and the accommodation was more than adequate for 4 people and 3 dogs. The Ship Inn does some lovely food, with some good surrounding walks. Seaton and Lyme Regis aren't very far away so we made the most of the lovely weather and spent some time there, with our afternoons mostly spenRead moret in the back garden at the property topping up our tans. The dogs had a great time too. Hide
