It’s also a great spot for rock pooling, fossil hunting, fishing, and wild swimming. You can walk all the way to Whitby along the beach and back, a 5-mile round trip, with your furry friend. Heading away from the coast, there’s a roughly 4-mile circular walk to the ruins of Mulgrave Castle, which sits at the top of a hill surrounded by woodlands where you’ll find lovely walking trails to go on. Head to Staithes, 7 miles away, to uncover Captain Cook’s connection with the village, or explore visit Whitby’s gothic streets and visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum (3 miles).
