Your canine companion (small or medium-sized only, please) will enjoy stretching their legs in the enclosed garden, and there’s plenty to explore nearby, from sandy beaches to ancient woodlands.

The south-facing lounge is filled with natural light, and here you’ll find squishy seating, a TV and DVD and a flame-effect gas fire – which makes the perfect focal point for a sociable evening. Like the lounge, the kitchen/diner is a spacious, airy room, aided by fully glazed patio doors which you can throw open to access the garden. Head upstairs and you’ll find a king-size and two twin bedrooms, all thoughtfully decorated with soft colours and with low, sloping ceilings in places, sharing a bathroom and a shower room. Step outside to the wraparound garden, where there’s plenty of lawn on which children can play and hounds may sniff or zoom. A small swing is a lovely addition for little ones, and grown-ups will enjoy sitting on the covered veranda with a sundowner or on the adjacent patio enjoying a delicious meal.
Located on the edge of the village of Thursford, almost mid-way between Fakenham (6 miles) and Holt (7 miles), the lodge is just 2 miles from the magical Thursford Wood, which contains some of the oldest trees in Norfolk. Just 6 miles away, Wells-next-the-Sea is great for a trot on a sweeping, sandy beach, or perhaps the start of a circular walk to the gorgeous Holkham Estate – where four-pawed pals are welcome to roam its 3,000 acres, shop, walled garden, and (when it’s time for a tasty reward) courtyard cafe.
