This pretty cottage on a steep hill in Thistleboon is ideal for one special pup and their family or friends looking for a relaxing seaside holiday. The property makes a wonderful base for exploring the rural and coastal beauty of the Gower Peninsula. On the doorstep is the Mumbles Hill Local Nature Reserve, with circular walks and splendid views, while the Mumbles Pier is just 1.5 miles down to the coast and has a little beach accessible to your pup year-round.

This characterful property, set over two floors, retains charming original features such as exposed wooden beams and brickwork. Enter the beautiful open-plan lounge/diner, where four paws will head straight for the spot in front of the wood burner on cooler evenings. The lounge has comfortable sofas, so you can sit back and relax while chatting, reading a book, or watching TV. The cottage kitchen is a delightful cooking space with all you need to rustle up some family favourites. A stylish shower room with exposed stone walls is on the ground floor. Climb the stairs to the first floor, and there are three lovely bedrooms, one double and two singles. A second bathroom completes the features of this seaside haven. Outside is a small, enclosed sitting area in front of the house with partial views of the sea, an ideal spot for a morning brew.

For three of the best beaches on the coast, head to Pwll Du (4.5 miles), family friendly Oxwich Bay (10.5 miles), or water sports haven Rhossili Bay Beach (17 miles), all of which let four paws go mutts all year round. Walkers can head out to Worms Head Causeway (17 miles) or Penllergare Valley Woods (8.5 miles), where your hound can leave no stick unfetched. Alternatively, Step back in time at Oystermouth Castle, less than a mile away.

Off loading and loading up the car is very difficult on this very steep one way lane. Dog walking is superb and the view from the Nature Reserve is outstanding.
