Set in the heart of the picturesque Wensleydale village of Askrigg, this traditional stone cottage makes a wonderful base for couples and smaller families exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Offering cosy accommodation for four guests, the Grade II-listed hideaway also has plenty of room for a pair of four-pawed holidaymakers to join you in discovering the region’s magnificent countryside. Featuring impressive timber beams, flagstone flooring, a welcoming wood burner and a delightful walled garden, this characterful getaway is perfect for nature spotters, cyclists, hikers and walkers.
A small entrance porch has space for coats and boots before you head into the traditional flagstone-floored lounge with comfortable seating, a TV, a wood burner and wooden ceiling beams. The ground floor also features a cosy and characterful dining room with an antique dresser, plus a stone-shelved scullery and a sympathetically updated kitchen. On the first floor, a pair of charming single bedrooms sit alongside the refreshing shower room. The final bedroom is on the second floor, in the low-sloping eaves of the cottage, with timber beams and a sumptuous king-size bed on a raised dais. From the back door, head across next door’s grassed area to the old barn which has ample bike storage space. The barn then leads through to the cottage’s own secret south-facing walled garden, with a lawn for your pets to run around, and a few steps leading up to a charming seating area. On-street parking is opposite the property.
