This beautiful maisonette is in the centre of Whitby, ideal for friends or family with one double bedroom and one flexible twin/super-king room. The outdoor deck is fully enclosed ¬– safe for furry family members – and the house is in a lovely quiet location with the beach, shops, and pubs nearby.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the town, this charming property combines gorgeous original features with contemporary interior design. The open-plan living space is bright and light. There’s a contemporary kitchen with a breakfast bar where you can eat together and comfy sofas to relax on at the end of a fun day. The twin (or super-king-size) bedroom is also on the ground floor. Take the steep winding staircase up from the kitchen to the first floor to the double room, with gorgeous original beams and views of the Abbey, and a bathroom with a lovely big walk-in shower. Outside is a sweet, fully enclosed (fenced and walled) decked backyard where you can relax, with garden furniture in the shed.

Wander along Whitby’s gothic streets, overlooked by the ruins of the Abbey at the top of 199 steps, and it’s easy to see how it inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula. Learn more about the connection on a walking tour starting at the Whale Bone Arch. Head to the harbour where you’ll find incredible fish and chips then hit the beach and have a go at water sports, go wild swimming, rock pooling, or just relax. Join the Cleveland Way coastal path from the cliffs by Whitby Abbey for beautiful Fido-friendly walks in both directions and head to either of Whitby’s piers for peaceful walks with stunning sea views.

Excellent location. Cottage needs a few maintenance issues sorted but is fine. This is the 5th time I have stopped but please read the access statement as the steps to the cottage are steep and uneven.

Once the cottage had been made ready it was a really good experience and we have stayed here many times before. Just a note there is lots of building work going on around the cottage so this may need to be considered. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm the building work is now completed.

The location is brilliant central and plenty of amenities around. There was everything we needed in the cottage plenty of glasses plates etc. The cottage is crooked by name and crooked by nature. A lot of the original features have been kept but a lot of luxuries added. The floors and stairs are quirky and wonky in places but this adds to the cRead moreharm. The courtyard is welcoming at the end of the day to catch any last rays and have a drink. The entrance is through an alley way and contains other holiday cottages. This one is the only one with a secure yard. Perfect for us with a dog. Hide

A lovely quaint cottage close to the beach and some nice shops and pubs. Beware of the steep stairs and limited headroom in the upstairs bedroom: my partner banged his head on the low beam about 10 times during our stay. Not many Take-Away food delivery options but Dominos do deliver. Can recommend Mr Chips for excellent cod and chips

Better garden furniture needed and better explain parking. Can only park in zone w which is not explained when booking. Had to park half a mile away
