A characterful barn conversion with whitewashed walls and enveloped by lush farmland in North Yorkshire, this peaceful hideaway is perfect for a small family or group gathering with a waggy-tailed member in tow. Beach-loving pups will have a ball crashing through the waves and digging in the sand at South Bay beach in Scarborough, before curling up for a snooze in the cosy lounge while the humans enjoy a tipple.

This 18th-century property features a quaint country interior with exposed beams and wooden textures. Towel down your sandy dog then pad into the open-plan living space where you can fire up the wood burner-effect electric fire and curl up on the sofa with a well-earned drink and nibbles. Potter in the compact kitchen and feed your puppy-eyed hound a hearty holiday supper then get to work whipping up a feast for the rest of the pack. Unwind together with a family film on the TV before retiring to the bedrooms, consisting of an airy double and a flexible twin/king-size. After dewy walkies with your canine companion, bask in the sunshine and sip your morning brew as you perch on the outdoor wooden bench.

Enjoy a short stroll to the local shops and watering holes in Seamer, within 500 metres, and scope out the best traditional pub for a post-adventure round with the hound. Grab some piping hot fish and chips as you scamper along the bustling promenade in Scarborough, 4 miles, or let Fido feel the wind in his fur as he bounds along the Cleveland Way coastal path, 4 miles. History-buffs and curious canines alike will delight in roaming the grounds of the historic Scarborough Castle, 6 miles, perched above the sparkling Yorkshire coastline.

Really enjoyed our stay at Piglet Cottage. The owners are very friendly and helpful and there's everything you need equipment wise. It's also a great location for exploring the East coast and the village has a well stocked supermarket and I would recommend the Mayfield pub if you wanted to eat out of the fish and chip shop over the road.
