Traditional character mingles with pretty decorations to make this cottage a very welcoming destination for families or friends plus a canine companion. Set in the tranquil Breamish Valley and less than 20 miles from the coast, it’s perfectly placed for both country walks and seaside excursions.

For an easy-going, modern/country welcome, look no further than this jaunty property, set all on the ground floor, which really feels like a home from home. Cook tasty treats in the bright kitchen, and dish them up at the farmhouse-style table in the lounge/diner. This cosy room is centred around the wood burner in the inglenook, and you’ll also find a dresser, shelves of books and a window seat just right for taking time out with a cup of coffee. Enjoy an evening of games or a film on the Sky TV, then head to the three bedrooms, a double, a single and a bunk-bed room for two, sharing a charming bathroom. The large, shared garden is equipped with picnic tables and BBQ facilities, and on site there’s also an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room, gym, games room and tennis court.

The cottage is set in the hamlet of Branton, on the edge of the Cheviot Hills – beautiful walking country, whether you prefer challenging hikes or easy strolls. Visit Alnwick, 9 miles, or Wooler, 9.5 miles, for a market town buzz with independent shops and places to eat and drink. At Cragside, 11.5 miles, dogs are welcome in the outdoor spaces, including the Rock Garden and Formal Gardens, and there are 40 miles of footpaths to explore, while if you head to the unspoilt coastal village of Craster, 18 miles, you can walk the coast path to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, one of the most dramatic on the Northumberland coast.

Excellent cottage kitted out to a good standard. Swimming pool/ gym area really good and not too busy while we were there. Easy parking and easy to find. Wooler had a good range of excellent cafes and random shops to make it worth a visit.

A comfortable, cosy cottage which was a perfect base for our family of four. The inside facilities were excellent with the games room and swimming pool a huge hit with our sons. The few free- roaming chickens were also a delight!

The cottage was in idyllic setting. It had everything we needed provided, the kitchen was better equipped than my own at home. Even had the added luxury of an on site swimming pool with jacuzzi and a gym. Was very quiet and exceptionally clean.

Nice, comfortable and well-furnished accommodation in a great location. Perfect for visiting North Northumberland - The Cheviots, the coast, The Breamish Valley etc. We loved all the facilities on site including the games room and pool as well as eating at The Bosk. Easy check-in and check-out.

The only reason we may not book again, is the distance from home, this was our first Northumberland holiday and it's very long drive from Worcestershire. However, the shared facilities (especially the pool and tennis court) were fantastic and made the holiday very good value, despite the cost of the petrol to get there! The score of 4 for accuracy Read morewas because it was not clear in the details that the property was all on one floor with the bathroom opening into the kitchen area. I've scored the equipment 4, because I couldn't find a measuring jug or a garlic press, both of which I expected from the list provided. Neither were insurmountable, just a minor inconvenience given that because of the remote location, we cooked most days. Overall, we were pleased with the stay and if fuel prices improve, we might be back :-) Hide

Overall a great family break - excellent communication beforehand and during our time there. Property was lovely and better equipped than expected. High standard of crockery and appliances. A couple of slight negatives; The comfort of dining table - the table top has a deep farmhouse style top which looks lovely but quite tight to our legs when siRead moretting on the chairs Mattresses were all very soft which wouldnt be our choice- realise that some people like this. However, when up for replacement it might be worth considering something more mid range of firmness. The shower wasnt brilliant- because of this we chose to take all our showers at the onsite pool facility. Facilities available on site were great and we made good use of them. So much to see and do in the locality, Great holiday Thanks Hide
