Traditional character mingles with pretty decorations to make this cottage a very welcoming destination for families or friends plus a canine companion. Set in the tranquil Breamish Valley and less than 20 miles from the coast, it’s perfectly placed for both country walks and seaside excursions.
For an easy-going, modern/country welcome, look no further than this jaunty property, set all on the ground floor, which really feels like a home from home. Cook tasty treats in the bright kitchen, and dish them up at the farmhouse-style table in the lounge/diner. This cosy room is centred around the wood burner in the inglenook, and you’ll also find a dresser, shelves of books and a window seat just right for taking time out with a cup of coffee. Enjoy an evening of games or a film on the Sky TV, then head to the three bedrooms, a double, a single and a bunk-bed room for two, sharing a charming bathroom. The large, shared garden is equipped with picnic tables and BBQ facilities, and on site there’s also an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room, gym, games room and tennis court.
The cottage is set in the hamlet of Branton, on the edge of the Cheviot Hills – beautiful walking country, whether you prefer challenging hikes or easy strolls. Visit Alnwick, 9 miles, or Wooler, 9.5 miles, for a market town buzz with independent shops and places to eat and drink. At Cragside, 11.5 miles, dogs are welcome in the outdoor spaces, including the Rock Garden and Formal Gardens, and there are 40 miles of footpaths to explore, while if you head to the unspoilt coastal village of Craster, 18 miles, you can walk the coast path to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, one of the most dramatic on the Northumberland coast.
