Property code: OC-BAYS

Bring together friends and family in this striking holiday home overlooking the Meare at Thorpeness. Sleeping eight guests and one hound, the property is perfect for large get-togethers and celebrating special occasions. The holiday home boasts a large garden with a lawn and is just 160 metres from the beach, which welcomes four-pawed explorers all year. The property is 2 miles from the seaside resort of Aldeburgh.

The timber house is decorated in neutral tones, with subtle nautical touches throughout. The ground floor houses a spacious lounge, with sofas and armchairs to snuggle up on, and a cosy wood burner-effect electric fire providing a cosy dozing spot for Fido. The large kitchen/diner is a sociable area, with ample worktop space to cook up a feast, and a dining table to accommodate everyone. After dinner, why not enjoy a singsong around the piano? A shower room completes the ground floor. The four beautiful bedrooms are located upstairs. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a stylish bathroom on this level. Outside, a mature garden awaits, with a large lawn for the hairy hound to play on whilst you dine alfresco on the patio and soak up the tranquil views across the water.

The unique village of Thorpeness centres around a manmade Meare, which covers 3 acres and is dotted with Peter Pan-themed islands. You and your canine sidekick can hire a boat to go on a fairy-tale adventure to explore these tiny islands, followed by a picnic on the pretty, woof-friendly beach. There’s a lovely coastal walk from the village to the seaside town of Aldeburgh (2 miles). Here, you’ll find a great selection of paw-friendly eateries. There are some stunning doggy-friendly beaches along this stretch of coast, including Dunwich (10 miles) and Walberswick (14 miles).

The property was very nice with a view of the Mere. The location was perfect for our planned visits and enabled some restful time using the local cafe with a wonderful view across the Mere. The Dolphin pub was excellent but ensure you book for Sunday lunch.

Property in a great location and village, however has been poorly maintained and is very faded and tired. No usable outdoor furniture. Check if new table has been replaced before booking.

This is a spacious, attractive and comfortable house, very well situated five minutes from the pebbled beach, and one minute from the lake and the pubs in Thorpeness. Particularly appreciated during the Music Festival in June by our party of six, with plenty of parking at the house, and easy access to concerts at The Maltings, Snape and in AldeburgRead moreh. Aldeburgh can be reached on foot across the beach. We enjoyed the piano too! Hide

A large, comfortable house in a great location right by the mere and within walking distance to Aldeburgh. The bedrooms and lounge are all very comfortable. A large kitchen but the utensils and pots and pans could do with an upgrade and some additions. We stayed during a rather wet and cold week in early December, and the house did take quite somRead moree time to get warm as there are only electric heaters and radiators - no central heating. Hide

5 The Bays is a great property for group or family stays offering fantastic views of the Meare. The beds are all comfortable and the rooms well equipped with plenty of storeage space. The large kitchen diner is a perfect sociable space with ample refrigeration space. The lounge is incredibly comfortable and putdoor seating is also available. ThRead moreorpeness is a small but pretty village with an amazing boating lake (The Meare) and a variety of places to eat. Aldeburgh is an easy walk away along the beach. We had an issue with the door alarm while we were there and this was dealt with on the same day, very efficiently. Hide
