This handsome holiday home is a spacious and comfortable couple’s retreat. Close to the beach in the tranquil village of Beadnell, it makes a fabulous base for water sports, walking and generally exploring this fascinating area, with your furry friends by your side.
In this stone-built, semi-detached cottage there’s plenty of room for a relaxing getaway for two. The kitchen, open plan to the lounge, is a warmly inviting space in which to prepare snacks and meals, with a tiled floor to set down your dog’s food and water bowls. Enjoy your meals at the dining table before settling down in the comfortable sofa with your pups by your feet for an evening of TV, reading or playing games. The double bedroom has a TV and an en-suite shower room, and outside you’ll find a fabulous shared courtyard, where there’s furniture for al fresco meals or drinks.
Spend the day on Beadnell Bay Beach, a wide, sandy crescent that’s popular for swimming and water sports. Its sand dunes are home to a colony of terns, and during breeding season you’ll need to keep your hounds close, but it’s dog-friendly all year round. The only west-facing harbour on the east coast, this is also a great place for watching the sunset with an evening picnic. The fishing village of Seahouses is 2.5 miles, where you’ll find a wider selection of shops and places to eat and drink, as well as a long, sandy beach that’s perfect for dogs that love to bound for miles. From here you can also book a boat trip (between April and October) to the Farne Islands, home to nesting seabirds and grey seals. Your canine companions are allowed to land on Longstone Island with you (on a lead), while humans can climb inside Grace Darling’s lighthouse.
