Gather your family or friends for a special celebration in this superb holiday destination. A riverside house with wonderful views and huge gardens containing a heated swimming pool, it’s the perfect place in which to relax and enjoy the attractions of the Suffolk coast.

This superlative property is set over three storeys, and its reverse-level layout means that the ground floor includes four of the five bedrooms. Two are king-size with en-suites; one has a king-size four-poster bed, and the fourth is a twin with a small double and a single bed. On this floor you’ll also find a large boot room, a snug and a bathroom with a free-standing bath. Head up to the first floor and you’ll find an open-plan living space which includes an impressive kitchen, a breakfast bar and a formal dining table that easily seats ten. This area flows through to the sociable lounge, which is full of light thanks to the bi-fold doors which lead to the wraparound balcony. On the top floor, the master suite comprises a bedroom with a super-king-size bed and a TV, an en-suite shower room and a private balcony. Pack your costumes because you’ll want to swim in the outdoor pool (available between May and September). Afterwards you can explore the five acres of grounds, then relax on one of the seating areas on the balcony, lighting the BBQ or simply admiring the river views.

The house is located on a private road in a tranquil part of Orford, separated from the River Alde only by a public footpath. Orford is renowned for its excellent food and unusual 12th century castle, and has lovely river walks, while Rendlesham Forest, 6.5 miles, offers further walking opportunities. For a day out, the timelessly pretty seaside town of Aldeburgh is 9 miles away.

I would only consider this property if everyone in your group has good knees as a lot of stairs to go up and down
