Experience the grandeur and luxury of a listed Georgian house set in huge grounds and with room for a special get-together of family or friends, plus up to three canine companions. Enjoy playing the piano, a game of  bar billiards of snuggling by the wood burner, or get out and about for a day of shopping or seaside fun.

There’s plenty of space to relax in this generously sized home. Choose from the two lounges, each with sofas and a TV (one with a wood burner and the other with an open fire), the large light-filled conservatory, which also has a wood burner and a dining table for six and bamboo furniture, or perhaps the wood-panelled games room. The kitchen/diner features a range cooker and American-style fridge/freezer, and there’s a separate utility room with laundry facilities. Also on the ground floor are a shower room and one of the seven bedrooms: a double which has an en-suite shower room and its own small kitchen area. Upstairs, you’ll find the family bathroom and the rest of the bedrooms – one with zip and link 3ft twins (super king on request) with an en-suite bathroom, a king-size with an en-suite shower room, another double, two twins and a bunk bed room. For excitable youngsters (and furry friends) there’s a 1-acre enclosed front garden with a patio, furniture and a  BBQ area, and further grounds of 1.5 acres to the rear that include a wooden gazebo with seating and uncovered ponds where ducks roam freely.

This gorgeous property is located in a secluded valley just 2 miles from Slapton Sands, a long, pebble beach that’s safe for swimming, popular for water sports, and dog friendly all year. Nearby towns and villages offer an array of places to eat and drink, including foodie Dartmouth, 7 miles, where there’s also a 14th-century castle and plenty of independent shops to explore.

Buckland House was just right for our needs. It may not be right for everyone but for a relaxed family holiday in a house with lots of room and lovely, spacious grounds, it was just the job!
