Immerse yourselves in the magnificent Northumberland countryside when you stay at this pup-friendly, single-storey retreat near Belford. Set on the fringes of a working farm, the two-bedroom stone hideaway sleeps four guests, as well as their canine companion. With incredible views out over the surroundings, it includes a sunny garden, where you and your chum can relax on warm afternoons, and a wood burner for cosy evenings in together.
Take four steps up to let yourselves into the inviting bolthole via the porch. Usher your furry friend through to the kitchen, which has a revealed stone wall, to give him a well-earned drink and to unpack any provisions you have bought. Take him through to the lounge afterwards so he can toast his paws by the crackling wood burner on chilly days, while you watch TV or a DVD or chat about the day’s adventures. Amble through to the dining room/conservatory when it’s time to sit down to dinner, opening the doors in here on to the lawned garden on fine days so your four-legged friend can pad outside. Bid your chum goodnight before you head off for a comfortable night’s sleep in either the king-size bedroom or the twin. There is also a family bathroom here. Have breakfast, lunch and dinner out in the garden with your paw-some companion close by, when you are at home. There is space to store cycles at the cottage and parking for two cars.
Make some sandwiches, grab the dog lead, and head off to the beach at Bamburgh, 8 miles away, where your delighted dog can race across the sand and splash in the shallows to his heart’s content. Head 10.5 miles to the Holy Island Causeway to tire furry feet with a walk over to Lindisfarne when the tide is out.
