Watch Rex race up and down the lawn at this truly special, dog-friendly holiday home in Bamburgh. Sleeping eight people, not only is this four-bedroom retreat a paws-down winner for pups because of its garden, but it also has a gate leading down to the dog-friendly beach at Bamburgh.

Enter the single-storey, stone cottage, taking a step up into the hall, with your eager four-legged companion behind you. Make your way into the lounge to light the open fire on chilly days and then relax together in its welcoming heat with the TV on or playing a game. Take Rex through to the conservator, where there is more soft seating and underfloor heating. Open the French doors in here on sunny days, taking a step down into the garden. Head through to the kitchen/diner to give Rex his dinner, make yourself a fresh cup of coffee and relax at the table in the heat of a second wood burner. There are more doors on to the garden in here. When eyelids begin to droop, head off to the king-size bedroom, the double, with en-suite shower room that has a step up, or one of the two twins. The family bathroom and family shower room are also each accessed by taking a step up. Bask out in the sunny garden on fine days. Light the BBQ while Rex frolics on the lawn and use the handy tap to rinse his sandy paws. The property also has an inner courtyard with a wood store. There is off-road parking for one large or two small cars.

Stroll 3 miles along the coast to the dog-friendly, beautiful beach at Seahouses. Take a boat trip from here out to Lindisfarne, where you and your chum can disembark for a spell and enjoy a good walk.

A fabulous location but you do need to be able bodied to use the dune access or walk round to the beach. One of our party had accessibility requirements and so we still ended up taking a car to the nearby car park to see the beach. Lots of space for 8 to be together (or apart as needed). A couple of the bedrooms are quite far from bathrooms but weRead more made this work for our group. Hide

Great location. Convenient for the beach and the town, with its restaurants and bars. Everything has been thought of and is provided. A really exceptional cottage.

Stunning location in a lovely village. Beach literally 2 minutes away. Secure garden and good conservatory. Plenty of room but could be tight for 8 adults ( we were 6 adults) good quality bedding and towels and cosy and warm in the cold weather.

Fantastic location. I spotted the cottage a few years ago. Excellent for our half term holiday with our daughter and grandson. Found the village restaurants have really increased their prices. Excellent visits to Bamburgh castle and Grace Darling museum

This is a wonderful place to stay if you like to walk beach's with your dogs, it's location is perfect for easy access to the beach, but its incredibly quiet and sheltered. The conservatory makes the cottage as its very warm and sunny when the weather is good, but a perfect retreat when it's raining and the lounge is warm and cosy in the evenings. We have stayed in Bamburgh eight times now and Coastguard Cottage is by far the best place to stay although the cost per week is reflective of that. I like the big communal rooms, high ceilings, comfortable beds and pillows and lots of light. Most of all the situation of the cottage being just behind the dunes and 2 minutes walk to the green cannoRead moret be bettered. Thank you for a wonderful holiday! This is our second visit and we will be back for sure! Hide

We loved the cottage: inside it is very well-furnished and comfy and outside the patio & lawn are super if the weather is nice and the conservatory is fab when the weather is colder. The location is super for access to the beach & the village, although I imagine the adjacent footpath could be very busy in the summer. A couple of points to note: twoRead more of the bedrooms can only access a bathroom by going through either the lounge or the kitchen/dining area. Also, the wall between the next-door cottage and the main bathroom & adjacent bedroom is paper thin - we could hear every word the occupants said - and other noises! Hide

Coastguard Cottage is in an excellent location, a short walk from the middle of Bamburgh and a shorter walk to the wonderful beach in the shadow of Bamburgh Castle. It is very well equipped and has plenty of space. Ideal for a family holiday even when it's very wet or foggy.

This note is made here as I could not find an alternative place to report. We have stayed at this property several times before and always found it very clean. However, this year there was a stain on the small hall mat which is very likely to be from a dog. This could easily have been disposed of or replaced. Some of the fixtures were dusty, e.g. Read moreshelf/ledge in kitchen and bedroom windowsill. Also spare bedding just shoved in a wardrobe in hanging area for clothes. This had to be moved elsewhere to use the wardrobe. The outside recycling bin was very smelly. Hide
