This small but perfectly formed cottage in the historic fishing village of Seahouses has managed to retain lots of character. It’s the ideal spot for a romantic getaway for two, plus a much-loved dog. Inside, you’ll find stylish and elegant interiors, while outside you’ll find the property is located within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Plus, it’s less than 100 metres from Seahouses’s pretty harbour.
Enter through a small porch, which is a great spot to take off muddy boots or towel down any dirty dogs. When you go through the porch, you’ll go into the open-plan living area which comprises the lounge, kitchen and diner all in one. It’s bright and airy, so it feels spacious. It also features a wooden beamed ceiling. The kitchen has everything you should need to cater easily while on holiday, with a foldaway table and chairs offering a good location for romantic meals in. To kick back and relax, there’s a sofa and armchair situated around an electric wood burner – creating the perfect place for dogs to curl up and sleep. Upstairs, you’ll find a spacious bedroom with a vaulted, beamed ceiling. It has a double bed but also benefits from cushy sofa seating. Outside, you can use the shared courtyard which has a bench for al fresco dining.
Seahouses is right on the coast, with a pretty stretch of beach that leads all the way to Bamburgh – 3.5 miles away. Dogs will love that walk, but you could also try the nearby nature reserve, just over a mile away. If you want to stay within the village, you’ll find plenty of dog-friendly pubs for food, and local shops for browsing.
