Property code: OC-4431

This small but perfectly formed cottage in the historic fishing village of Seahouses has managed to retain lots of character. It’s the ideal spot for a romantic getaway for two, plus a much-loved dog. Inside, you’ll find stylish and elegant interiors, while outside you’ll find the property is located within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Plus, it’s less than 100 metres from Seahouses’s pretty harbour.

Enter through a small porch, which is a great spot to take off muddy boots or towel down any dirty dogs. When you go through the porch, you’ll go into the open-plan living area which comprises the lounge, kitchen and diner all in one. It’s bright and airy, so it feels spacious. It also features a wooden beamed ceiling. The kitchen has everything you should need to cater easily while on holiday, with a foldaway table and chairs offering a good location for romantic meals in. To kick back and relax, there’s a sofa and armchair situated around an electric wood burner – creating the perfect place for dogs to curl up and sleep. Upstairs, you’ll find a spacious bedroom with a vaulted, beamed ceiling. It has a double bed but also benefits from cushy sofa seating. Outside, you can use the shared courtyard which has a bench for al fresco dining.

Seahouses is right on the coast, with a pretty stretch of beach that leads all the way to Bamburgh – 3.5 miles away. Dogs will love that walk, but you could also try the nearby nature reserve, just over a mile away. If you want to stay within the village, you’ll find plenty of dog-friendly pubs for food, and local shops for browsing.

The cottage was clean and comfortable, everything you need for a self catering holiday is catered for. The radiators were easy to use, and the shower was lovely, the internet and TV were great for cosy evenings. For less mobile people I wouldn't recommend the stairs, and be careful of the beams when getting out of bed! The location of the cottageRead more was great, no views but the harbour was just around the corner, and when the tide is in you can hear the sea from the bedroom. The cottage was ideally placed for some great walks or a bus/car journey to all the best Northumberland has to offer. Small and compact, but very comfortable for two people, and our dog enjoyed it too. Hide

This was our first stay in 2 Cliff Cottages. Although it was much smaller than where we normally stay in Seahouses it was perfect for two. Nicely decorated, very comfortable bed, excellent shower and the courtyard location was much quieter than where we usually stay. We'd love to stay again, but see that the bookings are changing to Friday to FridRead moreay which we can't do so will have to find a different cottage that does Saturday to Saturday bookings for our next holiday in Seahouses. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and maintained. It is in a great location a couple of minutes walk to the harbour, town centre, shops, beaches and The Black Swan pub which is very good. The electric radiators (recently installed) are very good and keep the cottage at a good temperature. The downstairs living area is just about big enoughRead more for two medium size dogs and their crates but would be cramped with large dogs. You would also need to move the chair and sofa to open out the fold down table. The upstairs bedroom is nicely done, the bed was comfortable but would benefit from not having a bed end for those of us who are reasonably (6ft) tall and particularly as it is a standard double. It is also unfortunate that the window to the right of the bed is illuminated at night by a streetlamp, the window does have a shutter blind but the bedroom is never in full darkness. I would also not say that there is a wardrobe in the bedroom, I would describe it as a chest of drawers with a hanging rail section. The downstairs toilet and shower room is an OK size, you step up into the shower as opposed to it being "walk in". Take heed of the width warning of the archway that leads off the lane \ narrow road to the cottages parking area and entrances, we have a Hyundai Tucson and we did need to take a lot of care and attention going in and out to avoid the arch walls. led to believe washing machine was with property communal one was available to us this needs to be made more identifiable wardrobe was not long enough for adult clothes but it was appreciated a longer wardrobe would have been difficult to fit in space general cleanliness was acceptable, mugs were badly stained needs to be replaced, outside propertyRead more area around all properties required weeding and external window sills were covered with cobwebs and should be generally cleaned on change over. Property was ideally located for harbour and amenities and could not have been better located. Hide
