Three guests and a lovely dog can spend time in this cosy Long Melford cottage, an entirely pet-friendly place in the Suffolk countryside. With an endless array of enjoyable walkies routes from your doorstep, a stay here offers a true escape to the country and a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You’ll no doubt feel like a top dog as you wake up each morning in this quiet village location, stepping out into the pretty shared garden for a morning coffee as your sleepy pup begins to stretch its legs.

Complete with romantic textures and traditional decor, this cottage is brimming with countryside charm. Having returned home from a long dog walk and a game or two of fetch, step into the cosy lounge. Whether you’re curling up on the sofa or warming your toes (or paws) by the flames, this room offers a truly inviting space to spend your evening. Adjacent is the kitchen with a breakfast table and access to the rear patio and garden, a shared space where dogs should be supervised. You’ll also find a family bathroom on the ground floor. Ascend steep cottage steps to reach the bedrooms which are made up of a double and single.

With your dog on their lead and your walking boots tied up, wander along the Melford Walk, a pretty route along an old railway line and through a wooded valley. This route leads to Melford Country Park (2 miles), a vast green space where games of fetch can be enjoyed in abundance. Around the village, Rover can also lead the way along The Hare Walk, a 7-mile route passing Kentwell Hall (1 mile), and the 5-mile Nethergate Walk via scenic Cuckoo Tye (5 miles).

Very comfortable, clean and pretty. The hosts are very friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. The garden is beautiful with plenty of places to sit. There are walks across fields straight from the property.
