This beautiful, detached cottage dating back to the 1600s is ideal for couples, friends or families looking for a relaxing holiday with one beloved pup. Perfectly located to explore all Suffolk has to offer, from coast to countryside, Wangford has friendly pubs, a well-stocked village shop and a beautiful church. The beaches at Denes (4 miles) and Walberswick (5 miles) welcome paw prints all year, and when it is time to eat, pop to nearby Southwold (3 miles).

This charming property, set over two levels, retains original features such as timber beams and an inglenook fireplace and yet has a distinctly contemporary feel so that you can be assured of the utmost comfort during your stay. Downstairs you will find a choice of two lounges. One lounge has a wood burner, where four paws will curl up on cooler evenings, plenty of comfortable seating and a large window. The other is a family room/snug with a TV. The garden room features a breakfast bar and bi-fold doors leading outside. The contemporary kitchen has all you need to cook up a storm, while the dining area includes antique chairs and original church pews with cushions. A shower room is also on the ground floor. Cottage-style stairs lead to the first-floor bathroom and three bedrooms - one king-size, one double, and one twin. Outside is a paved garden with a BBQ and outdoor furniture.

Nature lovers will enjoy a day at Benacre Nature Reserve (4.5 miles), where your pup can lead the way through reedbeds, woodlands and heathlands. Bungay (12.5 miles) is a beautiful market town where you can discover the castle or take one of the many waymarked trails. If your hound likes being near the water, Beccles (10.5 miles) is a must-visit, as you can hire or take a boat trip to explore the Norfolk Broads.

  • Please note: The stairs are narrow and steep, in keeping with a period property and may not be suitable for the elderly or those with mobility issues.

Lovely cottage with nice features. Quiet village. Some ceilings and door frames very low for taller people over 5ft 6. Beds quite firm. Village store well stocked. Pub was busy no standing room for drinks at the bar. Meals were more high end not for children or casual tea time meals.

Loved staying here, felt like home from the moment we stepped in. Everything worked and the beds and comfy sofas were great. Two bathrooms was a big plus as well as a walk-in shower. Easy to get into Southwold by car, bus, cycle or walk and handily placed for getting around Suffolk generally. The village store is well stocked and open 7 days a weekRead more. Didnt eat in the pub so can't comment on that although we did get a pizza takeaway for the Plough Inn a mile up the A12 and it was really tasty. Hide

Cottage location is ideal for exploring the Suffolk countryside. Downstairs is charming maintaining many old features. Plenty of seating and 2 TV's. Although mentioned in the description as not suitable for those with poor mobility, the stairs are extremely steep and access to twin room is via a narrow curved off shoot. Angel pub is welcoming and serves good food. Hide
