This quaint, two-storey cottage is set just 100 metres from the town’s vast sand and shingle beach and is perfectly suited to small dog-owning families planning to explore the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB. Guests can look forward to open-plan living areas, the use of a galley kitchen and a courtyard garden in the shadow of the lighthouse, one of the most recognisable features of the ‘Jewel of the Suffolk Coast’.
The cottage’s charming living area has everything to hand – a comfortable space for early morning coffees, a delightful dining table for suppers together, and cosy seating for long film nights. The galley kitchen, which looks out onto the courtyard garden, stands close to the spacious family bathroom. A narrow staircase leads up to the first floor, boasting to two bedrooms: a twin bedroom and a king-size bedroom with views of St James’s Green and down to the sea. The courtyard garden to the rear is a wonderful space dominated by the lighthouse that towers above it.
As long as you can see the lighthouse you’ll never be far from home in Southwold. Dogs are very welcome on its charming pier (0.5 miles), a 190-metre-long structure with vibrant shops, eateries and picturesque views. Suffolk enjoys a plethora of scenic dog-friendly beaches, so a wander around Southwold’s colourful hut-lined sand and shingle beach (100 metres) is the perfect way to start the morning before you head into town. Dogs are also welcome at a range of attractions farther inland, including Henstead Exotic Gardens and historic Leiston Abbey (both within 13 miles).
