Pick up the lead, call Rover and make your way out along the River Ure for a picturesque walk. This inviting cedar-clad lodge at Charlcot, 3.5 miles from Masham, is surrounded by scenic footpaths and also just 5 miles from the fringes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sleeping five guests, the dog-friendly, two-bedroom retreat nestles in shared grounds that you and Rover can wander and also enjoys a private deck where you can soak up the sunshine.
Climb four steps to enter and discover an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where your family or friends and Rover can all spread out to relax together after each adventure. Head over to the kitchen area to brew a nice cup of Yorkshire tea and to top up your cheerful chum’s bowl, then whip up something tasty for the rest of your party to sit down to at the table. Afterwards, relax together in the comfortable lounge space, where you can enjoy a movie on the Smart TV, while Rover stretches out on the rug. Settle him for the night then make your way through to either the double bedroom, which has a TV, or the twin, with en-suite bathroom. There is also a family shower room. Open the doors on to the deck on fine days to take the air with your faithful friend at your side. There is parking for two cars at this lodge.
Set Rover’s tail wagging with walks through the trees at Ellington Firth Forest, 5.5 miles from the lodge. Find some fabulous routes inside the national park too. Venture 8 miles to Leighton Reservoir to wander by the lake and visit the Victorian folly of Druid’s Temple. Head into Masham for a hearty meal at one of the market town’s friendly pubs that will welcome Rover with open paws.
