Curious pups will have a ball trekking alongside the rugged limestone rocks and sniffing the wildflowers on the trail to the tumbling waters of Kisdon Force, before stretching out for a sunny snooze in the tranquil private courtyard.

This bright and characterful property features beamed ceilings, stable doors, warm earthy tones, and light-flooded rooms. Towel down your muddy hounds and throw the outdoor gear in the under-stair storage space then wander through to the inviting lounge/diner. Set the mood with your favourite playlist on the Bluetooth speaker, throw another log on the crackling open fire, then flop down on the sofa with a well-earned snack while Fido tackles his chew. Perch at the dining table and flick through the scenic action shots from the day or assist the resident chef and cook up a storm in the vibrant shaker-style kitchen. Head upstairs to find the two bedrooms including a spacious king-size and an airy twin, each with a wonderful bay window for reading and cuddling with your furry friend. Sip your morning coffee while your friendly pup sniffs hello to the Thwaite villagers from the leafy patio.

Our stay was absolutely lovely at The Cottage, we don't think anything more could be done to enhance our stay. Everything needed was there, from towels to tin opener and tin foil. The house was spotless, clean comfortable bed, fresh towels and lovely furniture. The Yorkshire Dales was right on our doorstep, with the Pennine Way within a short walk and the coast to coast nearby too. We may have dropped in to local pubs too for some great food and a beer. The Cottage is an incredibly well equipped property and very clean - impressively so, given that it allows you to bring up to three dogs with you. The cottage was warm and cosy and the perfect base for long quiet dog walks in the stunning N Yorkshire countryside. The village of Thwaite is idyllic and feels as though it has been transported directlyRead more from the pages of a James Herriot book. Only one word of advice/caution: there is absolutely no outside area to the back of the cottage. (There is not even a back door.) The village itself is extremely quiet, safe, and offers plenty of green spaces for canine comfort breaks, and there is a pretty, little, walled patio at the front of the property where our elderly terrier was able to stretch his legs but if you bowl up with two young retrievers as well (as we did) be prepared to get acquainted with how very quiet and safe Thwaite is at 4am because youll be out there with a poo sack in hand, rather than sleepily opening a back door and clearing up at a more holiday friendly hour. The few full time residents of the village couldnt have been nicer and more welcoming, especially the couple next door, and although the cottage is also next door to a hotel; the hotel, and its guests, were so quiet and unobtrusive that you would thought it was just another private residence. I highly recommend The Cottage in Thwaite to anyone who wants/needs to step away from the frenzy of modern life for awhile and enjoy rural England as it was at the beginning of the last century, but while still enjoying modern conveniences like WiFi, a full sized fridge freezer, online shopping, and electric heating - if you dont want to lay a fire every day. We would most certainly book The Cottage in Thwaite again without hesitation and have already recommended it to family and friends. Hide

The Cottage is set in one of our favourite Dales villages - Thwaite. The surroundings are beautiful, and there are very many walks to choose from right from the door. During a rather damp and chilly week in early June it provided a warm comfortable base to return to with plenty of hot water for showers, and efficient heating. Pretty much everythingRead more you could want is provided, and all in good condition. Wed certainly recommend! Hide

This is a very well equipped, beautiful, cosy cottage in a wonderful location. We spend a lovely week over New Year with our 3 Labradors and had ample space for the 5 of us. The cottage was exceptionally clean and provided a really comfy place to relax at the end of the day. The welcome pack provisions for the fire lasted a couple of days which wasRead more ample as there are a lot of places within a few miles to get more. We had some very wet and cold weather but it didn't make any difference to our enjoyment of our stay, but did mean we had the fire going every night!! If you are not familiar with open fires, the heaters are great and can be easily regulated in each room. The cottage soon warms up! It took a bit of getting used to the induction hob but once we had tackled it, it was plain sailing :-) The information pack provided is really helpful and I would recommend spending a few minutes reading through it as it explains everything. The Keartons Hotel has recently reopened and the new owners are very friendly. Sadly, we did not make enough use of it but we will be returning to The Cottage for another wonderful break. Hide
