For couples, friends and families, this spacious yet cosy cottage is a fabulous destination, within easy reach of a great pub, the beach and the village green. This unspoilt village is a hidden gem, offering a traditional seaside experience on Suffolk’s Heritage Coast yet close to the lively resort of Southwold.
A charming, rustic decor surrounds you in this excellent cottage, and at its heart is the large kitchen/diner, with its traditional planked door and quarry-tiled floor. Here the cook can easily prepare delicious meals while the rest of the group gathers around the farmhouse-style table to help, chat, play games or plan tomorrow’s activities. After supper, you have a choice of the handsome lounge or the smaller snug, where there’s a sofa bed and breakfast table for two. Three romantic bedrooms are upstairs – a king-size, a double with a 4’ bed, and a twin with an additional Z-bed, all sharing a generously sized bathroom. At the back of the cottage, there’s a hose for muddy paws or boots, in a small courtyard that’s safely enclosed for your furry sidekick to enjoy a good old sniff around while the humans sip a coffee or maybe a glass of wine.
Picturesque Walberswick is a great base for a traditional seaside holiday, with an old-fashioned atmosphere and several shops, cafes and pubs. Its long, sandy beach is just 0.5 miles from the property and is open to dogs all year round for enormous runs by the waves. There are inland walks from the village through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or you could follow the coast path 1.5 miles to Southwold (passing the Denes, another dog-friendly beach), for a day out at this iconic resort, with its lighthouse, pier and plethora of shops and places to eat.
