Property code: OC-AALAVC

This charming property in central Southwold offers peaceful accommodation for a group of up to four humans, plus one canine guest. It’s a charming building with sweet white mullion windows, which are typical for this quintessentially British seaside town. Located within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, Southwold is your springboard for exploring the coastal marshes, sand dunes and pretty clifftops of this scenic area with your loved ones and pet.

The inside is decorated in a quaint traditional style with plenty of wood and antique-style furniture. In the cosy lounge, there are sofas for sinking into plus an electric fire for those chilly nights (we’re sure Bella will appreciate the heat for her evening snooze). The two bedrooms – a double and a twin – are accessed via a staircase leading up from the lounge. Outside, there’s a small courtyard where you can enjoy morning coffee while making a plan about where to walk Bella today.

You’ll find an abundance of things to do in the surrounding area, be it tucking into a bag of chips on the beach-hut-lined seafront (500 metres) or enjoying a quiet drink in a doggie-friendly pub (300 metres). The popular Edwardian pier is a great spot for a family photo, as you look back over the town and distinctive white lighthouse (150 metres). While the main beach at Southwold has dog restrictions in the summer months, Denes Beach 0.5 miles away welcomes them all year round. Further afield, you could head to the more secluded doggie-friendly beaches of Walberswick or Covehithe (5 miles).

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 shower room with walk-in shower and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher
  • TV, DVD and CD player
  • Compact courtyard with patio table and chairs
  • Private parking for 1 car
  • Shop and pub 300 metres
  • Beach 500 metres
  • This property can be booked alongside another property that sleeps a further 2 guests. Please contact us for details.
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 1 dog allowed. Additional charges may apply

Fantastic location and great having parking right outside the door. Plenty of space for the two of us and small dog, might be a bit small for four. There was some renovation work going on next door but they did not start early and could not hear them very much. Only issue we had was our dog barking every time they walked passed the window!

Brilliant location but we thought cottage needs a little bit of TLC considering the price we paid for 3 nights.

Perfect location, spot on. Everything you need in the cottage. We even took our pushbikes, hubby had to carry them through the front door and out the back door, but great to be able to store them safely when not in use. Even have a view of the lighthouse from cottage, magical at night. We loved our stay and would definitely return. Thank you

Plus side ideal location right in the heart of Southwold with parking which is very tight. Building work right next door so not the quite peaceful holiday we hoped for.

The location is fantastic and the parking is convenient (if not a little tight). The cottage is a good size and the beds are comfortable. The cleanliness could have been better and it needs some tlc. The bedrooms were very very dusty and cobwebbed and there was some rubbish, from previous guests one would assume, in the corners which I noticed wheRead moren I plugged my charger into the socket behind the bed. I did contact the owner and he responded in a timely manner and he came the following day to clean. I could see he had cleaned the corners but the cobwebs remained and later that day when I dropped something on the floor and bent down to look for it, I noticed even more rubbish than I had spotted before that was still there! The kitchen felt like it needed a deep clean too. Even plates had some dried remnants left on them and all the utensils and buttons/knobs felt like they needed a good scrub. Additionally there is building work happening on a property next door which is noisy. It would have been nice to be informed about that in advance. To summarise, Southwold is beautiful, the location if the cottage is superb but it needs to be loved so its guests can relax and not worry about what they might touch or step in. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. Weve spoken to the owner and the issue has now been resolved. Hide

We had a very enjoyable last minute weekend stay at Lavender Cottage at the beginning of February 2025. The cottage is central to the town making it easy to get out and explore Southwold, which we did despite the awful weather! The car parking space was much appreciated and the cottage was comfortable and well equipped for two (it might be a bit tiRead moreght for four people). I would just like to mention that the stairs are steep and the steps very narrow which could be an issue for someone with mobility issues. Hide
