It’s time to pack the ball launcher and some doggie treats for a stay at this homely cottage in Southwold. Spend your days exploring the dog-friendly beaches and scenic marshlands of the pretty Suffolk Heritage Coast, followed by quiet evenings in tucking into home-cooked food or fish and chips from a local eatery. With room for up to four over two bedrooms, this characterful home is ideal for a couple or a small family group.
On arrival, the building’s attractive brickwork facade makes an excellent first impression. The lounge has pretty mullioned windows, leather sofas and a decorative fireplace, for a cosy and welcoming atmosphere that’ll make you feel right at home. On chilly nights, light up the wood burner-effect electric fire and watch the dog doze off contentedly while you watch something on the TV/DVD player. At the front of this former fisherman’s cottage, there’s a table and chairs where you can sit and sip morning coffee while your pet demolishes her holiday bone.
You’ll be in a convenient location in the heart of Southwold, with independent shops, dog-friendly pubs and cafes all within 100 metres of your front door. While Southwold’s main beach has some dog restrictions in summer, at The Denes beach your pet can tear around to her heart’s content. You won’t need to go far for scenic walks, either, since the town is located with the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB. You can access it via Southwold Common (300 metres) or walk either direction along the seafront. 5.5 miles to the north, Covehithe beach (no dog restrictions) and Benacre National Nature Reserve are excellent for sniffing out with your pet.
