With sea views on one side and marshland on the other, this quirky holiday home in Southwold is especially suited to nature lovers. This popular seaside town is within the lovely Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers plenty of tail-waggingly good walkies through ancient heaths and scenic shingle beaches nearby. The two-storey property has space for four people over two bedrooms, and two guests of the furry kind are welcome to come and join in the fun.
Attractive wooden cladding gives the outside of this cottage a striking look which continues inside, with modern artwork on the walls and a rainbow-esque colour scheme. In the charming living room, you can sink into the comfy seating while your pets get forty winks on the rug at your feet. French doors from here lead out to the front of the property. The modern kitchen has striking blue units while the conservatory is an excellent spot for enjoying food together as you absorb the surrounding views. A second set of French doors takes you to a set of wooden steps leading down to the grassy garden, where you can absorb the fresh air while your pets chow down on their holiday bones.
You’ll find plenty to do in the surrounding area, with Southwold’s Denes beach 100 metres away (no dog restrictions), and cafés, shops and a dog-friendly pub within 0.5 miles. For a satisfying stroll, head towards the River Blyth (0.5 miles) and make a pitstop at the sandy Walberswick Beach (1 mile, no dog restrictions) before winding your way through the marshland towards the pretty village of Blythburgh (4.5 miles). At the pretty Benacre National Nature Reserve, 6 miles to the north, you’ll find more excellent ball-throwing territory.
