"A very lovely holiday cottage. Ideally situated for a very short stroll to the High Street and beach and lovely walks to the harbour. Amazing sunsets across the heath opposite. Having a parking space was a real bonus at busy times. Loved our stay at Heathside"  - Alison Kelly

Located just 100 metres from the seafront in pretty Southwold, this peaceful two-bed cottage is an excellent spot for discovering Suffolk’s stunning coastline. From its front rooms, it offers views over Southwold Common – a great spot for morning walkies, and is 0.5 miles from a doggie-friendly beach your pet will go mutts for. This charming property has space for up to three people and three dogs, so would suit a couple or a small family keen for a quiet break with their pet.

You’ll enter this holiday home into a welcoming open-plan living area with mullioned sash windows . There’s a lounge area with inviting seating, a TV plus a rug for your pet to doze on. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing home-cooked meals and packed lunches, while the dining area is located within a charming conservatory. Outside, there are two spots for sunning your skin/fur during your stay, with a pleasant courtyard with a table and chairs out the back and a small seating area out the front, too.

Southwold is a thriving town with a dog-friendly pub and plenty of shops within 200 metres of your front door. The seaside town is located within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, giving you excellent access to an unspoilt landscape featuring ancient heaths, wildlife-rich estuaries and shingle beaches. There are plenty of option for pet-pleasing trails – such as winding your way west through the wetlands of the River Blyth till you reach Blythburgh village. Alternatively, head north towards the secluded dog-friendly beach at Covehithe (5.5 miles) and explore the pretty Benacre National Nature Reserve in which it’s located.

Really clean, small but perfectly formed cottage. It was good to get the sofa revamped last year but still find it very uncomfortable.

Very nice little cottage in a great location. Ideal if you have a dog as it's close to the beach/dune area and the village green for runs. A bit cold and drafty - particularly chilly in the bedroom, but we were there on a very cold wet weekend in November. Well equipped kitchen.

The fittings/fixtures showed signs of ageing, e.g. rusty towel rail and door stop; the cottage looks generally neglected; disappointing compared to our previous stay there Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We'll investigate this right away to make sure everything's in place for the next guest.

Heathside is in the most perfect location - 5/10 minutes walk to the sea and harbour. A couple of minutes to the shopping area. It is a comfortable and cosy little house and it was a joy to spend the week there.

A quirky property close to town centre one way and open common/shore the other. Getting the heating right was a bit tricky especially the upstairs radiators although this would not be a problem in the summer.
