Families and friends will love this characterful cottage, set by the river in the attractive village of Cark. Cleverly combining old with new, it has a stylish interior and a secure patio which is just the place for furry friends to chase their tails while you enjoy the fresh air.
This semi-detached cottage retains original features such as exposed stone, fireplaces and wooden beams, but has been given a modern, reverse-level makeover for comfortable and convenient living. Hang your pups’ leads in the hallway’s oak cupboards, and head into the kitchen, a high-quality space where you’ll find all the equipment necessary to whizz up tasty meals. Also on this floor are a sleek family shower room and two pretty bedrooms: a double and a twin (king-size on request) that has access outside. Head up to the first floor where there’s a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a spacious, open-plan lounge/diner, its high, pitched ceiling giving a fabulous sense of space and light. Hang out with your canine companions here, around the wood burner, while you plan your next day’s adventures. There’s also a separate seating area with a sofa bed for relaxing, upstairs on the mezzanine which overlooks the living space. The enclosed patio is a great place to enjoy the sunshine, whether with a morning coffee or an evening meal.
There are lovely walks from your door, and within half a mile you can be at two local pubs, an artisan bakery or the majestic Holker Hall, set in glorious parkland and gardens which four-pawed friends are welcome to explore. The village of Cartmel is less than 2 miles, famous for its foodie offerings (don’t miss the sticky toffee pudding) and for being the UK’s smallest race course – meets are held from May until August, and four-pawed besties are very welcome.
