Everything a beach hut should be – this bright and colourful chalet sits on the edge of the popular seaside village of Croyde, North Devon, a destination famed for its surfing and a fantastic location to enjoy with your family and your beloved hound. With miles of golden sand and spectacular coastal paths to explore, you can spend your days digging for treasure and sniffing out seaside adventures before returning to a warm and welcoming home from home.

This colourful abode is accessed via two steps up to a stable door. Cross the threshold and you’ll find yourselves inside a vast split-level living area with vaulted ceilings and large windows, adding to the bright and airy atmosphere. The chalet has been decorated to a high standard with funky artwork and pops of colour. Of the two bedrooms, the master is a double and there is also a twin room, both share use of the family bathroom. Patio doors open from the lounge onto the deck via wooden steps, extending the social space to outside; this offers plenty of privacy and is a really lovely spot for drinking and dining alfresco. An enclosed lawn also sits at the front of the property, a safe space for Fido and for children.

Situated adjacent to the pedestrian path that leads to Croyde’s golden bay, this scenic pathway (about 0.5 miles long) is also suitable for cycling – and with dogs being permitted on the beach from October to April, Fido might enjoy the saunter too. The heart of Croyde village is half a mile from the property and offers an abundance of cafes, pubs and shops offering local produce, most of which welcome dogs. Head to Baggy Point with your hound and take in spectacular views from the South West Coast Path.

We rented this property as we wanted to be close to family who were camping. Whilst not at the luxury end of the market the property met all our basic needs and was warm and comfortable. They key feature is it's location within 10 mins walk of the beach. Although dogs are not allowed on Croyde beach in the main season they can be walked in the duneRead mores behind. The dog friendly beach at Saunton Sands is 5 mins drive away and the car parking is free before 8am for those early risers. There is a bus stop at the top of the road if you want a scenic ride or a trip to Barnstable. An ideal base for visiting North Devon Hide

We had a lovely time in this beach hut. Location is brilliant for Croyde Bay with its surf and sand dunes. Beautiful Croyde also just a short walk away with lovely eateries and surf shops. Beds very comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

We had an enjoyable relaxing holiday. The beach hut had everything we needed to make a comfortable stay. Amazing beaches very near by, one which was just a short walk away. The little village was sweet, we only ate in The Thatch pub, which had amazing food. There are more pubs to choose from. Would definitely like to stay again.

This was our second time at the Beach Hut. The location is excellent, close to the beach and also a short walk into the centre of Croyde. The Beach Hut has a lovely vibe, is comfortable and homely. On arrival it was clean and tidy, there is a good array of equipment including cooking utensils. The cooker is fairly old but perfectly useable to whip Read moreup simple meals. There was the usual tea, coffee etc on arrival and also a box of lovely fudge. However this is self catering so we did bring our own essentials as well. Last year there was a DVD which wasnt present now, this did only leave basic TV channels for entertainment. Hide

The best thing about The Beach Hut is its close proximity to the beach and easy stroll to town. The chalet is bright and cheery, was fairly clean and has the basics. The dishwasher and electric towel rail were a bonus. There are no books or games - probably a hangover from the pandemic - so bring your own if you'd like these. The property is fully Read morefenced and has a lovely private patio at the back, surrounded by greenery. It had outdoor chairs and low tables but no normal height table to eat outdoors (as was pictured). We are not a big family but the bath towels were on the teeny side. There is a small washing line but we brought a longer one, which was well used. We would look to book again if prices stayed the same/dropped - otherwise a staycation in Croyde is becoming almost as expensive as going abroad. Loved the colourful wall art. Hide
