Less than a mile from the market town of Ambleside, this superb studio cottage is ideal for a romantic couple’s retreat, and welcomes your furry best friend, too. With a wood burner and underfloor heating, it’s perfectly cosy all year round.

Set in a courtyard of former farm buildings, this little gem of a getaway has been carefully designed to provide everything you need in one open-plan space, with skylights for extra natural light and characterful exposed old beams. The king-sized bed is tucked at the far end, by the wardrobe and a comfortable leather sofa that faces a Smart TV. The adjacent wood burner will keep you toasty even in the cooler months. Separated by a breakfast bar, the kitchen is fully equipped with all you’ll need to prepare delicious meals, as well as a dishwasher and washing machine. Up two steps is the luxurious, marble-tiled bathroom with a walk-in shower and illuminated, anti-fog mirror. For outside space, you share a riverside garden across the road, where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful view while your pup wags his tail in the fresh air.

Situated in the small hamlet of Clappersgate, the cottage is tucked just below Loughrigg Fell, providing magnificent walks with stunning vistas over the national park. For shopping, eating and drinking the popular resort of Ambleside is less than a mile away, easily accessible by a paved footpath along the River Brathay. From Waterhead, also about a mile away (perhaps stopping for a picnic at the ruins of the Roman fort en route), you can hop on an unforgettable steamship cruise around Lake Windermere, the largest lake in England.

We absolutely loved our time in the cottage. The location is perfect, its a walk away from Ambleside, a short drive to Keswick and other popular locations, and its on a quiet road. The cottage itself was beautiful and so cosy, we will definitely be coming back and staying here and would recommend this place to anyone! Thank-you xx

This cottage would suit walkers who planned to have a holiday. Our plan was a relaxing holiday with trips out so there was limited areas to sit in the sun and relax with our dog! The small garden was well maintained but across a busy road

This cottage is perfect for 2 (and a dog) fitted out with quality appliances and underfloor heating. Very comfortable bed, smart TV, good WiFi and a brilliant log burner. Excellent presentation throughout and a lovely shared garden across the main road, down some steps and you find this little haven next to the river. 10 minute walk into Ambleside Read moreis perfect (away from the busier centre). The cottage was small but perfectly formed! Well equipped and a good location. Lovely and cosy in the evening with the log burner lit.

A mixed review for this one. Positive points are it is a quiet, very clean, cosy cottage for a couple. Takes dogs but is really too small to have anything more than 1 small dog. Decent shower. The garden is across the road but is very pretty and nice to have. Downside was allocated parking spot was poor and nowhere to keep clothes which was tricky.

Nice little cottage but for ourselves it was more a studio not cottage as bathroom was only seperate room. Found it small & unable to relax properly on the sofa. 20 min walk into town. OK for cple for short stay.

The cottage was in a good position as long as you dont mind walking it was a lovely walk to shops and to the lake. We arent used with the cooker / hob that was there so found that a bit difficult to use, bed comfortable not a lot of space and nowhere to put clothes just coat hangers above freezer in cupboard

Me and my wife stayed here for our honeymoon with our dog primrose. It was a lovely little cottage to stay in. Being able to walk to the water and town quick quickly allowed us to go out of an evening and both drink 'recommend the TAP ROOM in Ambleside'. and also do a lovely walk around the lake using the ferries. The cottage was clean, had a problRead moreem with getting the induction hob to work as I haven't used an induction hob before. TV had YouTube what is lovely for us millennials. Parking is abit tight and not abundantly clear where we should be parking as you are told to park next to the do not obstruct gate sign. You are close to a main road so can hear the cars but thats quite useful for a Dog from London as totally quietness is abit unnerving for her. In all had a lovely honeymoon in a nice little cottage in the Lakes. Cant complain. Hide

Great central location as a base for exploring the Lakes. The accommodation is adequate for two people, a little compact but functional, at the end of the day you're there for a walking/exploring holiday of the Lakes. There's underfloor heating, which keeps the chill away (even in June!). Ambleside is a short walk away and has good eateries and loaRead moreds of outdoor gear shops. Hide

The cottage was exceptionally well equipped and spotlessly clean. It is however very small just enough room to move about between furniture, and hardly any storage for clothing. The garden is very pretty but you do have to cross a very busy road to get to it. The cottage was smaller than expected but well presented and comfortable especially the bed. Good wet room with quality towels. It would be a struggle with any dogs larger than medium as there is limited floor space. The garden is pretty with the river and perfect for the dogs morning or evening toilet walk. It was kept clean by all who used it.

The cottage isnt exactly a cottage - its one room & a shower room. Its very clean but much smaller than the photos make it look. The bed was extremely comfortable but the couch was not so we had to spend most of the evening sitting on the bed. The kitchen is well equipped but the hob required us to consult YouTube to make it function! If you arRead moree taking a car then parking is a problem, the space allocated is suitable for a fiat 500 & nothing larger. When you park you have to also leave room somehow for the other flats in the next block of properties to access a garden. When I went out in the morning the cottage across from us had parked right in the middle of the narrow courtyard so we couldnt get out I was running an ultra marathon that morning & ended up having to walk into Ambleside (not far but not ideal when youre conserving energy to spend a whole day running). On the whole it served our purpose but I dont think well be back. Hide
