Escape from the fast pace of modern life to a remote and idyllic retreat in the wild, open spaces of the Northumberland National Park. The whitewashed farmhouse, sleeping eight guests and up to three dogs, is nestled on the slopes of the beautiful Cheviot Hills. It is perfect for families or a group of friends who love walking with their pets in an unspoiled landscape of tumbling rivers and wide skies. The spacious property is set in the beautiful College Valley, where a private road system gives entry to just 12 cars a day. It makes a place of rare tranquillity, free from traffic noise, pollution and lights.
There are splendid views from every room of this beautifully furnished and characterful holiday home. After a day in the great outdoors, relax on comfortable seating around an open fire in the cosy living room. The large, country-style kitchen has a tiled floor, ideal for wiping muddy paws. Enjoy meals with a spectacular backdrop in the separate dining room. There are two ground-floor bedrooms: a super-king-size and a twin. Upstairs are a twin and a family room with two small double beds. Both share a family bathroom. Outside, a rear patio with garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ overlooks majestic scenery, with sheep your only neighbours. This is a lovely, tranquil spot for a drink or meal; perfect, too, for stargazing in this designated International Dark Sky Park.
Children and pets in your pack will love splashing about in streams and small waterfalls as you hike the hills. Look out for abundant wildlife, including peregrines, kestrels, red squirrels, wild goats and more. Country pubs are within 11 miles, and the small, stone-built market town of Wooler (13 miles) has traditional independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
