Enjoy something of a digital detox with family or friends as you recharge your batteries immersed in nature at this two-bed former shepherd’s house in the Northumberland National Park close to the Scottish border. Located at the end of its own drive in a remote spot amid idyllic countryside, the cosy cottage is gorgeous, with breathtaking views of the Cheviots and surrounding Northumberland countryside. Three dogs are welcome to enjoy the peace and quiet of this hidden valley, too, as well as the gorgeous, enclosed garden including its very own stream. Keep an eye out for red squirrels and grouse as you lead the way to adventure.
Prepare to be wowed by this cosy cottage in its stunning setting, affording amazing views and wonderful walks from the door. Rustic and quaint from the outside, the well-equipped interiors have a deluxe feel. Snuggle up by the open fire in the light and airy lounge or dine like kings (and queens!) in the modern take on a country kitchen/diner. The stylish family bathroom is also on the ground floor, complete with a long bath for holiday soaks. Upstairs, and out of bounds for bounding hounds, is a calming double and twin bedroom, both with characterful sloping ceilings, wood panelling and dormer windows. Outside, the walled garden is generous and fully safe for little ones (on two and four legs!) to run around and explore. It’s an oasis of green, with furniture and a BBQ to enjoy watching wildlife by day and stargazing in the region’s dark skies at night.
Discover Wooler’s eateries, independent shops, pubs and cafes 10 miles away. One to excite your canine chums is Yeavering Bell Hill Fort (5.5 miles) offering terrific Cheviots views, which is part of a 4-mile circular route passing through ancient sites.
