Cute and cosy, as any holiday cottage should be, this makes an ideal bolthole for a couple, two friends or a small family – with one pampered pup absolutely welcome too! This two-bed little house is situated in the peaceful village of Dunstan, with prime walking in beautiful rural countryside all around and just 1 mile from Craster on the coast. The charming 18th-century cottage offers welcoming open-plan living downstairs and even has an enclosed courtyard garden where Fido can have a sniff about as you eat at the table. It makes a fabulous base for exploring the Northumberland Heritage Coast.
This rural cottage really embraces you with its rustic vibe and comfortable interiors. The wooden floors downstairs are both attractive and practical with a canine chum in tow. The low, beamed ceilings give it a homely feel, with the lounge area’s sofas and TV and a well-equipped galley kitchen and dining table sharing the open-plan living space. Stairs lead from here upstairs to the snuggly double and single bedroom, both with characterful sloping ceilings. They share the family bathroom, complete with a bath for luxurious soaks. Outside, the pretty courtyard has a bench seat and is fully enclosed, with climbing plants aiding privacy.
Walking must surely be high on the agenda in this neck of the woods, so take the lead and make your furry friend’s day. Feel re-energised taking to the Northumberland Coast Path, winding along clifftop trails. If you’re tired out when you return, treat your party to a night off self-catering at the local village pub within 100 metres. Check out the pretty fishing village of Craster with its harbour, cove, fortress ruins and famous smoked kippers. Otherwise, head inland to the pretty market town of Alnwick (6.5 miles) for its castle and independent shops and eateries.
