This fantastic property, situated right on Brighton Marina, is perfect for small families that want a coastal holiday with their loyal pup in tow. Sleeping four across two peaceful bedrooms with space for one dog to stretch out, it won’t be long before you’re off enjoying the delights Brighton has to offer. Head to the Royal Pavilion Gardens (2 miles) for walkies, or just half a mile to the stretch of beach that is dog friendly all year round.

Head up the stairs to this first-floor apartment through the entrance hall into the living room. Comfortable sofas and large windows make this the ideal spot to unwind in after a long day out; the dog can choose to snooze by your feet or by the pebble-effect electric fire next to the dining table. The bright and airy kitchen has a contemporary feel, as does the main bathroom with sleek tiles and a sumptuous bath. Both bedrooms feature neutral tones paired with splashes of colour. The king-size bedroom can be made into a twin on request and there’s a futon to sleep an additional two; there’s also a stylish en-suite shower room. The second room has a single bed with a pull-out bed underneath, making it a fun bedroom for the kids to have sleepovers in.

Head into the centre of Brighton (2 miles) for countless independent shops, cafes and pubs to try, many of which welcome your four-legged friend. If one of you doesn’t like heights, stay with the pup in the i360 cafe or gift shop (3 miles) while the rest of you head 138 metres to the top of the viewing tower to enjoy 360-degree views over Brighton. And for somewhere where the kids and dog can let off some steam, head to Preston Park (5 miles).

We had a nice time and the flat served its purpose for a couple of days despite a few issues. Staff at Original Cottages were very helpful.
