This fabulous lodge is nestled on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and boasts far-reaching countryside views. Heading north, enjoy dog walks through woodlands and past waterfalls in the Park, or heading south you’ll find the woof-friendly beaches of the south coast (20 miles). After a busy day, spend memorable evenings on the decked terrace, tucking into a delicious feast from the BBQ or soaking in the hot tub.
A few steps lead to the beautiful, wood-clad retreat. Inside, kick off your walking boots in the entrance hall, and head into the L-shaped lounge/kitchen/diner. It’s the perfect place for entertaining, with a large table to seat everyone, reclining leather sofas, SkyTV, and a breakfast bar for informal gatherings. After dinner, challenge your fellow guests to a game of pool, or perhaps a stint on the Xbox or Wii. In summer, throw open the patio doors, so Fido can potter in and out. Completing the ground floor is the shower room (up one step) and the utility room. The three bedrooms – one of which has an en-suite shower room – and a luxurious family bathroom are upstairs. The outside, decked area is enclosed and really has the wow factor, with glorious views, sun loungers, BBQ, outdoor furniture, and a six-seater hot tub.
There are some stunning walks from the property, including to Henrhyd Falls (1 mile). The tallest waterfall in South Wales is spectacular and is a lovely shady spot for hot hounds on a summer’s day. Enjoy a waterside picnic or perhaps a spot of wild swimming. The vibrant town of Merthyr Tydfil is 17.5 miles away. It has a lively music scene and a fantastic array of independent eateries. You and the furball can also enjoy a ride on the steam train, which is just outside the town.
