A charming cottage with gorgeous interiors, original features, and a pretty garden, this is a peaceful getaway for a couple, friends, or a family. It’s tucked away in the hamlet of Penrose in the stunning Cornish countryside near Padstow and is just 2.5 miles from the nearest beach, so it’s perfect for exploring the coast and country.
The 250-year-old cottage has bags of character with many original features complemented by contemporary furniture and fittings to create a comfortable home-from-home. The kitchen has lovely mod cons including a Lavazza coffee machine, and the dining room caters for everyone with its large farmhouse table, wood burner and books and toys for the kids. There’s Netflix for cosy evenings in and a lovely garden for warm summer days, with different seating areas, pretty planting, and a lawn your kids and furry family members will love.
You can head out and enjoy this unspoilt area of Cornwall on foot on the many trails and footpaths nearby. There’s a lovely 2.5-mile walk through fields and woods to Porthcothan Bay, with its gorgeous beach with golden sands and crystal-clear waters which are great for surfing, sunbathing and swimming, and your furry friends are welcome there all year. If the beach and fields near the cottage seem familiar, it’s because they were one of the filming locations for Poldark! There are several canine-friendly beaches on this part of the coast, and it’s a haven for walkers, water sports enthusiasts and newbies alike. Cyclists and walkers will enjoy the Camel Trail, an accessible cycling/walking trail between Padstow and Bodmin, which runs through a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The quaint harbour town of Padstow is 5 miles away, known as a top destination for foodies with a selection of fine dining restaurants to choose from.
