The spacious family home enjoys a fantastic location overlooking the beach at Aldeburgh. The property sleeps four guests and one pup and makes a delightful couples’ retreat. Stroll out of your front door and onto the pebble beach (which welcomes woofers out of season), or into the town to sample Aldeburgh’s iconic fish and chips. Just 0.5 miles along the coast is a peaceful shingle beach where your four-pawed pal can play all year round.

The home-away-from-home has large, sociable rooms and a reverse-level layout to maximise the views from the first floor. On the ground floor you’ll find two inviting bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – both with en-suite facilities. The utility room is also on the ground floor. Upstairs, discover a vast lounge, with seating in the bay window to admire the ever-changing view, and comfortable sofas for hosting movie nights. The kitchen/diner is equipped with everything you need to rustle up tasty meals, and also has a large dining table and ample space for the dog bed. Sip a morning coffee in the small, enclosed front courtyard, whilst the hound tucks into a dog chew and watches the world go by.

Aldeburgh is rich in culture and has a plethora of art galleries and sculptures to admire. The town also hosts an annual literary festival. The main pebble beach has a seasonal dog restriction, but just along the coast is a 1-mile stretch of shingle where Fido is welcome to chase around and play all year. You can also enjoy strolls along the promenade, which is lined with pretty, pastel houses. A 2-mile coastal walk brings you to the fascinating village of Thorpeness, with its mock Tudor houses and spectacular manmade Meare. Hire a boat and explore the islands or take a wander along the paw-friendly beach.

Our disappointment started as we arrived. What had been a quite attractive red brick exterior has been rendered in 'dog droppings brown'. As we opened the door, our first impression was dominated by the smell of a jumble sale. Beach Cottage appears to have been furnished from the discards of a house clearance business. Little of the furniture Read morematches and many of the fixtures and fittings appear also to be oddments from the sale boxes. The bathrooms are tired and need a complete refurbishment. The kitchen has seen better days. We boiled the kettle for the washing up before we discovered that if we left the hot tap running for a long time, hot water did eventually come through. The pots and pans are all old and need replacement. There is no dishwasher. Hide

Lovely position and comfortable place to stay. I felt the owners would be happy to act on any suggestions for improvement although I did not think that was necessary in my case. I was happy to be staying in Beach Cottage.

Views to die for and so nice to have the living space on the first floor, so passers by arent looking in or parked vehicles blocking the view. The heating and hot water are amazing and the beds very comfortable. Just prepare yourself for a Seventies throwback feel on the furnishings and carpets and you wont be disappointed. The wonderful sunriseRead mores and ability to sit and privately watch the world go by make up for it. We would book the property again. Hide

Perfect location right by the sea yet close to shops. Plenty of room and well-equipped kitchen (although it is gas rather than electric, which the web site says). Nice to have books, games and jigsaw puzzles available. We came in November so managed to get street parking close to the house; in higher season this would be difficult. The location of Beach Cottage is one of the best locations along Crag Path. The views from the first floor never fail to enthrall; we could watch the sea and the changing conditions for hours.

Beach Cottage is exceptionally spacious, in all areas, comfortable, and in a perfect position overlooking the beach. Facing due East, excellent for the Sun rising in the mornings, and people (and dog) watching. There are numerous "Fish Sheds", along the beach selling a wide variety of fresh & smoked fish, all with-in a very short distance.
