Askrigg is lovely spot for a quiet break with beautiful countryside all around and great walking. Locals are really friendly. Kings Arms is an absolute gem of a pub - delicious food, good ale and excellent service. Crown Inn similarly welcoming. Thornsgill Cottage is nicely located but in need of a bit of TLC, especially in bathrooms. Rooms are sRead moremaller than they look in photos and the double bed is definitely on the small side. Limited storage space but didnt really bother us for a one week stay. Parking is tricky - certainly no room to turn round a large ish car so you have to manoeuvre into the described space to avoid blocking the exit for next door and be careful backing out. We came as a party of three for some downtime and walking and achieved our aim. Hide

We stay in as lot of holiday properties. This is the worst. If a property has electric storage heaters, they should be turned on the day prior to renting.

Cosy cottage in an ideal location for Dales activities Local pubs and shop in walking distance The car park space is very small would not suit a large suv as access is needed by the property at the rear

The cottage is in a brilliant location, within walking distance of good pubs and food places, and also some great walks straight from the door. Askrigg is a lovely village. The cottage did feel quite run down and worn in places, however. Just feels like it needs some money spending on it, the couches have definitely seen better days. It was also prRead moreetty cold in there, even with the fire on, we were glad for the blankets provided! On the plus side, the beds and bedding were all really comfy. Hide

Excellent cottage in a great location. Plenty of walking from the door or using the Little White Bus for linear walks. Very comfortable beds and good shower. The outside space was very small and you would struggle to park a large car in the office road parking space whilst leaving space for the neighbours to pass and not block the foot path gate. ARead morestrigg had three pubs and a small shop, which had basic supplies. Hide

The cottage was very well decorated and comfortable.. You didn't want for anything, ( even cling film!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location is lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit to the Wheatsheaf at Carperby. The food was excellent and the service with a smile was exceptional.
