Not only is there lots of space in this impressive property that sleeps 12; there’s lots to do here too. Located at the end of a long driveway, the house has a large, elegant lounge, and a spacious second lounge in the Hall Room. There’s a table tennis table, a child’s football table, a sauna, and a covered swimming pool. The grounds are no less impressive with large lawns, two ponds and ancient oak trees. It’s the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or to stay on a group holiday with two canine companions warmly welcome too.
Set on a 300-acre sheep and cattle farm, this 17th-century house is truly unique and has been styled in keeping with the character of the property. There are beautiful original features, and modern additions add to the space and character. There are four en-suite bedrooms: three family rooms (one is on the ground floor) and a super-king-size bedroom. You’re free to enjoy the extensive gardens, though furry family members must be kept on their leads as the grounds are open and there’s livestock nearby.
There are superb walking and cycling routes from the front door. Two footpaths cross the farm and link up with miles of stunning walks, and there’s a lovely 7-mile cycle route to Pevensey Castle and Normans Bay along a quiet country lane (Sustrans Route 2). The historic town of Hailsham is 2 miles away with a bustling high street, and the stunning 15th-century moated Herstmonceux Castle and gardens are 5 miles away. The nearest beach is 10 miles away at Pevensey Bay where furry family members are welcome all year round. Batemans (11 miles), the house Rudyard Kipling lived in and now a National Trust property, makes a great day out. Kipling loved his canine companions, and they’re welcome in all outside areas!
