Property code: OC-MERRIL

Nestled in the heart of harbour town, Porthleven, this beautifully finished cottage is perfect for families and their canine companions. Ideally located to explore the unbridled natural beauty of the West Cornwall coast, you can start your day with a walk on the beach (0.5 mile) before heading out for a unique experience in the local area. After a busy day, head home to curl up in front of the wood burner. Fitted with eco-friendly features such as solar panels, solar thermal heating and air source heating, you can relax in the knowledge that you’re looking after the environment.

Beautifully refurbished, this contemporary cottage is light and airy throughout with plenty of space, whilst hard floors and underfloor heating make it ideal for your four-legged friends. On the ground floor, relax in the open-plan living area, where exposed beams add character and white walls create a bright space to relax in. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up a storm. Upstairs, there are two gorgeous bedrooms (one king-size and one twin), in addition to a contemporary bathroom with a waterfall shower over the bath. Outside, enjoy al fresco dining in the landscaped courtyard.

Porthleven is a hive of activity with fishing boats frequently coming and going from the harbour, a range of independent shops and galleries, and eateries to suit all budgets, many of which sell fresh seafood. Venturing further afield, you can follow the South West Coast Path to golden Praa Sands in one direction or Mullion in the other (within 6.5 miles). Alternatively, why not head north to artists’ favourite, St Ives (16 miles), which has beaches, galleries (including the Tate), and many shops. To explore the more rugged nature of the coastline, head to the Lizard Peninsula and Point (14 miles) for a brisk dog walk.
