Nestled in a quiet street less than 100 metres from Porthleven’s stunning, sandy beach, this charming cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the West Cornwall coast. Families and their four-legged friends can enjoy strolls on the beach, hikes along the South West Coast Path and fun days out in the local area before heading home for a quiet evening in front of the wood burner. The bustling harbour is within 0.5 miles, where you can watch the daily catch come in before it’s served up in many of the town’s eateries. There are also a number of shops and galleries on your doorstep.
Packed with original features, this cottage is full of character with an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary furniture that makes it feel warm and welcoming. Discard coats and shoes in the hall, before heading into the large lounge/diner where one of the original fireplaces houses a wood burner. The well-equipped kitchen is to the rear with everything you’ll need to cook up some treats. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, including the master suite with a unique wooden ceiling. A spacious family bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside, a small enclosed courtyard offers somewhere to enjoy a morning coffee.
Keen walkers and their canine companions can join the South West Coast Path that passes through the town and head towards Praa Sands (5 miles) in one direction or Mullion (6.5 miles) in the other. For something a little more windswept and rugged, explore the natural beauty of the Lizard Peninsula and Point (14 miles). The area is packed with unique experiences, including tidal island St Michael’s Mount, which can be accessed via boat or on foot from Marazion (9 miles), breathtaking clifftop theatre, The Minack (22 miles), or Land’s End (22 miles).
