Property code: OC-SMUGGL

Impeccably situated above the beach, moments from the picture-perfect harbour, this cosy one-bedroom cottage is a romantic bolthole from which to explore the iconic fishing town of Porthleven with your four-pawed third wheel.

After long walkies around the wonderful surrounding coastline, take the weight off on the large comfy sofa in the open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen area whilst your wet-nosed pal curls up beside the beautiful wood burner and dreams of tomorrow’s adventure. Take the locally caught produce you’ve collected and whip up a hearty meal in the well-equipped kitchen, down some steps, before enjoying a romantic meal for two around the compact wooden dining set opposite; the rug beside is bathed in sunlight from the wonderful Velux window above and is the perfect spot for your pup to settle and keep you company. When it’s time to let sleeping dogs lie, retreat upstairs to the generous en-suite double bedroom that features plenty of room for Rover’s bed. Up a wooden staircase with a unique fishing net bannister, you’re welcomed onto a balcony with uninterrupted views of the beach, and a patio perfect for little paws.

The most southerly working port in the country, Porthleven is a mecca for foodies and beach lovers, retaining the character of an unspoilt fishing village. Take a gentle stroll around the picturesque Porthleven Harbour, less than half a mile away, with your canine companion in tow; you can enjoy some locally caught fish from a choice of quaint cafes and restaurants dotted along the harbour whilst your pup refuels at the water bowls provided. Beyond the harbour wall, treat your four-pawed pal to 3 miles of glorious golden sand at Porthleven Beach (less than 0.5 miles), and when the tide is out, walk together to Loe Bar and the Penrose Estate from the granite pier of the harbour.

We really enjoyed the quirkiness of the cottage. It's in a wonderful position just a few yards from the beach and around the corner from the harbour. It is well equiped and the bed is so compy. Will definitely be coming back.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The cottage was clean and tidy with everything you need and in a superb location! Just a short walk around to the harbour. Loved all the little touchs in the cottage and info provided on what was around in the area and places to visit. We would definitely stay again!

Great cottage in a fab location, very well equiped couldn't think of anything missing. Also very warm and cosy. Tastefully decorated with many seaside trinkets. The comfiest bed and pillows I have had when staying away.

Smuggler's cottage is a delight. We loved being close to the vibrant centre of Porthleven and the beach. The cottage was cosy during a storm and a delight in the sun given the terrace to sit on.

A beautifullly clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage ideally placed for enjoying both the harbour and the beach area at Porthleven. The welcoming cream tea was very much appreciated! We had a thoroughly enjoyable week at Smugglers Cottage and it provided an excellent base for exploring the base of Cornwall.

A quirky, comfortable and cosy cottage with accommodation arranged on three levels, plus a sun deck accessed through a large dorma window. Can see the sea from the front door all of two minutes walk away. Porthleven is an interesting place lots of alleys and different levels to explore. Super cliff path walks. Lovely restaurants.

The cottage was really lovely, in a great area, really cosy and it felt very homely to us. The terrace, although it only had a slight view of the sea, was lovely to sit at in the morning and was a real sun trap. The bedroom was cosy, and the kitchen was relatively well equipped. The showers were very small, but in such a small place it is the best Read moreavailable option. Unfortunately, despite general cleanliness, there were heaps of dog hairs around the whole cottage, especially in the bedroom. Although this was a slight annoyance to us, it would be far from ideal for somebody with an allergy. The cottage was very close to the harbour, with a maximum 5 minute walk to the furthest pub. Overall, we had a really lovely stay, and we would definitely return. Hide
