This charming 1886-built cottage is in a remote location, offering magnificent mountain views right in the heart of unspoiled countryside. Perfect for groups of six and a faithful friend, this rural stay gives a cosy base from which to explore the Aberystwyth and the Pembrokeshire area.

Drive up a scenic gravel track via a fiord to a homely, traditional country cottage. Super snuggly nights await in the open-plan living room, where pillowy leather sofas and a glowing wood burner make for furry tummy tickles and chatting way into the night. Cook up family feasts in the well-equipped, rustic kitchen and take it to an ample-spaced dining table where you can admire mountainous views whilst breaking bread. When you want to watch the world go by, sip coffee in the peaceful window-surrounded porch area where two chairs allow guests to be amazed by the untouched countryside before them. Three upstairs bedrooms, a king, twin and bunk bedroom all have stunning views and a handy shower room sits just down the hallway. Surrounded by nature in every direction, your four-legged friend will find a plethora of places in the enclosed patio and terrace to sniff out the fresh air. Lakes and rivers surround the property, so please supervise the little ones, and keep an eye out for any wildlife that may pop up and say hi.

There are miles of wonderful walkies for your dog to take you on within the Cambrian Mountains, including Pumlumon, the highest peak within the range and can be spotted on your drive to the property. If you can pull yourself away from the captivating views, pull on your hiking boots and grab the dog treats and explore the Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire mountains. The pretty village of Tal-y-bont (8 miles) has a range of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes, and even some dog-friendly eateries for the pup to enjoy a nibble or three. Heading southwest to the coastline of Aberystwyth, a beautiful seaside day out awaits, with a promenade serving seaside treats, donkey rides, fish and chips and tasty ice creams - there’s something for everyone.

Great cottage in a great location. Perfect to unwind for a week. Living off-grid and managing the batteries with solar power was easy once we got the hang of it. Became a bit of a compulsion by the end of the week, to see how little electric we could use! Recommend this place to everyone, proper 4x4 needed for crossing the river if it has raineRead mored heavily. Hide

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location, the owner was always available for any questions and being a lone female, checked in with me every day to see if there was anything I needed. Surprisingly the internet was exceptionally good and you can get a decent phone signal if you walk part way up the hill. It was well equipped and the welcome basketRead more was much appreciated. If you love isolation, this is the perfect place. Hide

Just what we wanted. Only problem, a rat living under an inspection chamber where cars are parked, ate through the rubber hose to my rear windscreen washer!!!
