Spectacular views from the hot tub make this secluded cottage really special, and you’ll love its cosy wood burner, too. Set in the south of the Snowdonia National Park, it’s a perfect base for walking, climbing and outdoor activities of all kinds, and sleeps four adults, two children and up to two furry friends.
The home-from-home feel of this rural property will really help you relax and recharge. Its kitchen/diner is its heart, a great space for cooking (on the Rayburn or conventional cooker) and spending time together at the small table. The dining room offers a space for more formal dining and, after you’ve eaten, you’ll want to snuggle up in the lounge, gathered around the wood burner, and switch off from everyday life. The spacious utility has room to store your mutts’ food as well as bikes or other outdoor equipment. On the first floor, the three sweet bedrooms, two doubles and a room with bunk beds, all have gorgeous views, and share a brightly tiled bathroom with a shower over the bath. After a day out in the fresh air, you can soak your muscles in the private hot tub outside while watching the sheep on the fells. Afterwards, fire up the BBQ and admire the breathtaking views all around as you dine on the patio and your dogs play in the safely enclosed garden.
The cottage is in the Cywarch Valley at the foot of Aran Fawddwy mountain – the climb to the top starts just a few metres away. Rocky and boggy, sometimes slippery, it’s a six or seven-hour route and a great challenge for experienced and safety-conscious hikers. The market towns of Dolgellau and Machynlleth are 11.5 miles and 16 miles respectively, while the gorgeous beach at Barmouth is 21 miles.
