It’s 4 miles from the popular university town of Aberystwyth, where you’ll find a variety of shops and places to eat and drink, as well as a beach with donkey rides in the summer. From here you can catch the dog-friendly steam train through fields, meadows, woodland and mountains to Devil’s Bridge, home of the famous waterfalls. For a choice of beautiful walks, head to the Hafod Estate, 13 miles, which has 9 miles of restored footpaths through an 18th-century picturesque landscape.
