This beautiful retreat enjoys a peaceful setting just outside the village of Thursford. The lodge welcomes six guests and two canine pals, and suits large families and groups of friends looking to explore North Norfolk. There are some lovely dog walks in and around the village, including through the ancient Thursford Wood, or further afield you can join the Norfolk Coast Path or take a stroll around Holkham Park (both 10 miles).
The lodge is set on a family farm at the end of a quiet country lane. Inside, the ground floor has a bright, open-plan layout with contemporary furniture and homely touches. The spacious, country-style kitchen/diner has plenty of room for the pups, as well as a large, wooden table for sharing mealtimes together. After dinner, head across the hallway to the lounge to warm your toes and paws by the wood burner and watch the TV/DVD. In summer, throw open the French doors so Rover and Fido can potter in and out. An attractive bedroom, along with a shower room and utility room, complete the ground floor. The remaining two bedrooms are upstairs, one of which has an en-suite shower room. A family bathroom rounds off the accommodation. Outside, fire up the BBQ on the south-facing veranda whilst your four-pawed chums play on the lawn. The property has private parking for three cars.
The traditional market town of Fakenham is 7 miles away. The town hosts regular flea and farmers’ markets, and is a great place to pick up local produce and holiday souvenirs. Here, you and the hounds can walk along the River Wensum, or around the atmospheric ruins of Creake Abbey. For a day at the coast, journey 10 miles to Wells-next-the-Sea with its colourful beach huts and long, woof-welcoming beach. After a walk, refuel in one of the village’s many paw-friendly pubs or restaurants.
