This cottage is loaded with character and offers the chance for a truly memorable holiday with family or friends, and a much-loved dog. Thanks to being set in the market town of Machynlleth, it benefits from a great location where you can make use of the plethora of dog-friendly restaurants, cafes and pubs on your doorstep. Enjoy relaxing in this medieval property, soaking up the charming atmosphere created by the original features and sympathetic renovation.

This is most apparent in the open-plan living space found on the property’s first floor - with all bedrooms on the ground level. The living area has an impressive, vaulted ceiling with countless exposed beams, while traditional furniture complements the property’s character. In this room, you’ll find the dining table, which fits up to six people, and two plump sofas where you can kick back and relax with your dog at your feet. You’ll find an electric fire in here to provide warmth on chillier days too. On the ground floor, the first of the two bedrooms is a double and has its own feature fireplace. As does the twin room next door, which also benefits from yet more beams. Both bedrooms can make use of the family bathroom.

While there isn’t a dedicated garden or outdoor space here, you’re so close to much of what the Dyfi Valley has to offer, it shouldn’t matter. On Wednesdays, you can take your dog and guests around Machynlleth’s street market - the oldest in Britain. Or you could head 10 miles away to the sandy beach at Aberdyfi, which has lots to do for all the family and a long stretch of sand for your dog to burn off energy.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath
  • Fridge, freezer, hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer
  • Welcome pack with tea, coffee, milk, sugar and cake
  • Cot, highchair and stairgate available on request - please bring your own cot linen

Adeilad ardderchog, llawn hanes. Lovely historical building, very atmospheric, warm, suitably furnished and very well equipped. There was everything we wanted, but we had little time to relax as we were showing ancient Bibles from the Welsh Bible Exhibition in local schools and at Eglwys S. Tudur, Darowen. Lovely property in an excellent location with easy access to everywhere, lots of space and fab layout. Very well equipped. Full of character and history. Loved the artwork. And the pizza on Saturday night from the deli next door was excellent!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, historic cottage. The upside-down design, with a fabulous upstairs all-in-one room was very easy to live in. The location was excellent both for the interesting town of Machynlleth and for the Wales Coast Path.

Really lovely cottage in the centre of Machynlleth so really easy to get to from train station and to explore the town. Clean, everything you would need. A bulb went out in the bathroom during our stay and it was sorted promptly and efficiently. Lovely touches of a bottle of wine and bara brith on arrival. Would highly recommend.

Such a lovely house, everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Location is amazing, on street parking was fine (just down the road or in the MOM as guided). Warm and cosy with effective heating. Quiet at night, with no disturbance. Some nice touches, like cake and wine on arrival. We definitely will be back.

This is a really beautiful house with a very empathetic modern vibe inside a time capsule where you wish the walls could talk to tell their stories. Everything has been thought through to make for a very comfortable stay.

Staying in the oldest property of Machynlleth gives a special feeling. The house is fully equipped. In the front of this property is a wonderful bakery! And it is on the doorstep of Snowdonia and near the sea.

The cottage is very cosy and welcoming. The decor is sympathetic to the history and style of architecture. It is in a perfect location for exploring the area as most of the places we visited were within half hour drive. Lots of beautiful walks in forests, coast, sand dunes, nature reserves, waterfalls, rivers, craft centre, heritage railways, minesRead more. The town has plenty of places to eat, we especially enjoyed the deli on the corner of the house and the vegetarian restaurant. The fish and chips and takeaway from the nearby Indian were very good as were the freshly made pizzas from the deli, cooked only on Saturday evenings, very popular. Lots of interesting shops and a well stocked Co-op. We had no issue with parking behind MOMA as it is only a two minute walk away. Hide
