This cottage is loaded with character and offers the chance for a truly memorable holiday with family or friends, and a much-loved dog. Thanks to being set in the market town of Machynlleth, it benefits from a great location where you can make use of the plethora of dog-friendly restaurants, cafes and pubs on your doorstep. Enjoy relaxing in this medieval property, soaking up the charming atmosphere created by the original features and sympathetic renovation.

This is most apparent in the open-plan living space found on the property’s first floor - with all bedrooms on the ground level. The living area has an impressive, vaulted ceiling with countless exposed beams, while traditional furniture complements the property’s character. In this room, you’ll find the dining table, which fits up to six people, and two plump sofas where you can kick back and relax with your dog at your feet. You’ll find an electric fire in here to provide warmth on chillier days too. On the ground floor, the first of the two bedrooms is a double and has its own feature fireplace. As does the twin room next door, which also benefits from yet more beams. Both bedrooms can make use of the family bathroom.

While there isn’t a dedicated garden or outdoor space here, you’re so close to much of what the Dyfi Valley has to offer, it shouldn’t matter. On Wednesdays, you can take your dog and guests around Machynlleth’s street market - the oldest in Britain. Or you could head 10 miles away to the sandy beach at Aberdyfi, which has lots to do for all the family and a long stretch of sand for your dog to burn off energy.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double, 1 twin

Ysgubor Newydd is an attractive and comfortable property in a very central location in Machynlleth. We stayed as a party of four walking sections of Glyndrs Way - it was ideally suited for this. Given its location we had been concerned about noise and parking, but neither was an issue. The neighbourhood was extremely quiet and we were able to park Read moreour two cars close by whenever needed - on-street parking is unrestricted just around the corner beyond the cottage. Wed certainly recommend Ysgubor Newydd. Hide

This is excellent accommodation for a family with two kids. The location is spot on as the cottage is on a quiet side road just round the corner from the main drag of Machynlleth. The town itself is superb and well placed for the surrounding area. The bathroom is amply as are both of the bedrooms. The upstairs kitchen-dinning room-lounge is a Read morefantastic space where you really feel the sense of history of the property with the wooden roof beams, but with all the mod-cons. The whole place has been refurbished to a very high spec and in a sympathetic manner preserving the character of the building. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again. Hide

Ysgubor Newydd is full of history and staying there makes you feel part of its story. It's quiet, cosy & comfortable but so close to all amenities and in a beautiful part of the country.

Thank you for a lovely stay at your beautiful period property- a fantastic space that has been lovingly restored. It's in an amazing location right in the centre of town, but felt peaceful and quiet. There was lots to do locally and we would definitely recommend the cottage and the area to others.

A property full of character, the only issue was sorting out parking, with no parking behind MOMA the only option seemed to be the public car park in which we would have been the only car. We were have able to come to an arrangement with the local solicitors to use their space.

Ive given wholly deserved full marks to the cottage and all that went with it so all I would add is that ahead of the holiday the emailed communications were clear and comprehensive containing all I needed to know.
