This delightful single-storey barn stands in picturesque rolling countryside just 7 miles from the maritime village of Moelfre. Perfectly suited to small dog-owning families or two couples, the barn offers open-plan living areas, an attractive outside seating area and easy access to scenic walking and cycling routes leading towards stunning beaches and coastal settlements.

The charming stone barn stands within extensive grounds close to the banks of a complementary coarse fishing lake. Its homely ambience is enhanced by quirky and colourful soft furnishings that beautifully complement its original features, from the exposed stone wall in its open-plan lounge/dining room to the wooden beams in its spacious, modern kitchen. After a busy day, retire to either a double bedroom or twin bedroom, both tastefully appointed and served by a nearby shower room. Sit and watch the world go by from the front of the cottage, enjoy access to a shared BBQ or take the dog for an investigative sniff around the beautiful grounds.

The village of Llanerchymedd (1.5 miles) is handily placed for essentials or a pub lunch with the dog in tow. Anglesey is blessed with countless inland footpaths and trails where guests can get to know more about the island’s history and wildlife. The area around Llyn Alaw Reservoir (4.5 miles) ticks all of those boxes, and for a taste of the sea, the dramatic coastlines surrounding the historic village of Moelfre (7 miles) will excite, inspire and provide instant access to the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. Really enjoyed our stay in Owl cottage. It was very clean and well equipped for our stay. The location is very good and we had some lovely walks around the fishing lake. The owner was always available if we had any questions and very helpful. The property was ideally placed for exploring Anglesey.

Like so many of these holiday cottages from all the different sites the property description is well hyped making them sound marvellous. However the reality in many cases is below par, both in quality and locations. The cost of a good quality hotel can be booked with far more amenities and better locations at a similar cost.

It was a lovely cottage in a beautiful position. My husband really enjoyed the fishing. The owner was pleasant and helpful and around enough to ask about things if needed. Anglesey is stunning. The WiFi doesn't work and reception on the whole island was patchy. It was probably good for us to have a tech break, but researching places to visit and bRead moreooking things was a bit tricky. Firstly, and importanly, about the fishing and the wonderful lakes....The fishing lake was a very pleasant surprise. We had expected a small, over-stocked carp pond similar to many other rural properties that offer fishing with the accommodation. However, the lake was beautifully mature, and well-managed with a well-balanced stock of silver fish, cRead morerucian carp, some tench, and a reasonable head of carp. Short sessions at either end of the day proved thoroughly enjoyable with some beautiful roach to nearly two pounds, rudd, bream, and crucian carp coming to simple float tactics. Carp are also relatively easy to catch and are great fun on relatively light gear. A beautiful place to while away a few hours. Secondly, and as important, we stayed at Owl Cottage, a two bedroom ground floor cottage with parking outside. It's spacious, light and airy. There's outside seating in front of the cottage, and a communal seating area just across the from the cottage. The lakes and walking areas are two minutes away. A lovely place to walk with dogs. It such a peaceful quiet place, only the bird song to listen too. It's 15 minutes away from Holyhead, and so close to lovely beaches. The only issue is there's no internet and little phone signal. However, this actually made the 'getting-away-from-it' perfect! Thank you Andrew, for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back very soon! Hide
