Lying along the idyllic outskirts of the tranquil village of Orford, this cheery pet-friendly property offers cosy accommodation for families and friends discovering a beautiful part of the Suffolk countryside. With ample space for up to six guests, the cottage also has plenty of room for a pair of four-legged pals to tag along and help you discover the region’s stunning countryside and breathtaking coastlines. Lying in the shadow of Orford Castle, this bright and relaxing holiday retreat is perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers exploring the area’s historic sites and picturesque villages.

The light and airy open-plan lounge/diner has been decorated in fresh, soothing tones and makes an ideal space to settle back, chat about the day’s adventures and share fantastic family meals which you can cook in the sleek and elegant kitchen. The ground floor also has a useful shower room. Upstairs you will find a handy family bathroom with underfloor heating, alongside three spacious and airy bedrooms: a cheerful double, a charming twin and a lovely king-size room with en-suite shower room. An additional single bed can be found in the utility room in the eaves of the property. French doors lead from the lounge and onto the patio with views towards the majestic 12th-century Orford Castle. Overlooked by trees and shrubs, the patio has a choice of garden furniture and makes a lovely spot to sit back with your four-pawed pals and unwind after a wonderful day out.

The characterful village of Orford lies in the midst of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of glorious walks for your dogs to enjoy. Dogs are welcome along the beach at Thorpeness, and at local attractions including The Suffolk Punch Trust, Easton Farm Park, and around the Sutton Hoo estate, all within 15 miles.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Great to be able to walk our dog with ease, garden has back access to the castle area, a very dog friendly house. Good showers, comfortable beds, lovely linen and towels, plenty of hanging space in bedrooms. Had good meals and a friendly welcome in both the Jolly Sailor and the Kings Head.

A very comfortable house for a small group. Plenty of room in the lounge and the kitchen was well equipped. Great location with 2 good pubs within 5 mins walk, a great local shop and a lovely fish restaurant.

A modern and practical property in a convenient location in Orford. Very comfortable beds, well furnished and provisioned with everything we needed for a short stay. The high street is minutes away and there are plenty of options for walking.

Lovely position. Enjoyed sitting in the garden listening to the birds and enjoying the view of the castle. Near all the amenities. Great to have off street parking.

Excellent location, especially with the garden gate straight onto the footpath by Orford Castle, great for dog walks. Comfortable and warm house, well equipped, although small fridge and separate very small freezer. Efficient showers, modern bathrooms.Quiet neighbourhood

This is a very nice cottage in a very nice village. This is a relatively recent build (an ancient fisherman's cottage it ain't!) so it has all the facilities of a modern house without looking 'suburban'. It's handy for two good pubs, a good village shop, an artisan bakery/cafe and an oyster restaurant. The Kings Head is probably the better of the tRead morewo pubs. The locals seem to think so! Aldeburgh is about 15 minutes drive with a very good bookshop and a butcher selling Aldburgers! All in all a pleasant stay. Hide

On arrival the cottage was clean and looked well prepared, however the it had not been checked over and we discovered that the oven and microwave did not work. The response from the Original Cottage number provided was inadequate and we did not have use of the microwave during the booking.

The house is very warm and comfortable for a winter stay. The bedrooms are cosy, with plenty of storage. There are lots of handy touches, like the utility room, the stairgate, and the many games - my grandchildren were spoilt between them and their Christmas presents! There is an abundance of china and cutlery, however the fridge and freezer are smRead moreall and the last ones in the shower may find the hot water is gone if there is a full house. Nice holiday cottage in very good location plus car parking which can sometimes be a problem. Neighbours seemed nice and friendly and back garden has access to the lane by the castle. Very near to friendly shops catering for all your needs.

The house is in a great location and parking is a real plus. The bathrooms look like theyve recently been redone but other areas of the house look a bit tired. The lounge/dinner is a good sized space to be together.
