A tastefully presented cottage brimming with rustic style and situated in the heart of the King’s Forest in the Suffolk countryside. This charming abode is perfect for outdoorsy families or groups of friends holidaying with their tufty-pawed companion. Wildlife enthusiasts and curious canines will delight in ambling along the leafy woodland paths and lakeside trails at the picturesque West Stowe Country Park (3 miles). Back at base, get tails-wagging with high-stakes lawn games on the impressive 2 acres of private land.

Nestled in a secluded forest location, this stone property features a traditional country interior with stable doors, lived-in wooden details and exposed beams. Towel down your soggy hound at the door then step inside. Pour a drink and potter in the farmhouse kitchen as you cook up a simple supper for the pack. Gather around the wooden feasting table then while away the evening eating, drinking, and itinerary planning. Retire to the lounge and sink onto the comfortable sofas with a sweet treat while your worn-out pup dozes in the warmth of the crackling open fire. Browse the bookshelf for an easy ready and curl up on one of the armchairs or perch at the desk to do some late-night planning. As the night draws in, ascend the staircase to the first-floor sleeping areas. Each of the three bedrooms is thoughtfully styled with soft fabrics and boasts plenty of cosy nooks for a plush dog bed. Bask in your peaceful country surroundings with an al fresco breakfast spread in the garden while your curious dog sniffs and explores.

History buffs and cultured canines can admire the Gothic architecture of the St. Edmundsbury Cathedral (8.5 miles) or load up on local produce and unique gifts at the bi-weekly Bury St Edmunds Market (8 miles). Get noses twitching with a saunter alongside the fragrant plants and herbs peppering the gardens at Elveden Estate (9 miles) before refuelling with doggy ice cream and banana biscuits at the on-site Dog and Scone restaurant (human options also available!).

We were amazed by how peaceful and tranquil the cottage was - something we value highly.when we book cottages. Yet it's just fifteen minutes from central Bury St Edmunds, and the wonderful activities in the pretty surrounding area. The cottage was a great size for us, with two teenage boys who love their space. Given the rural setting and the age oRead moref the property its quality is reflective of this, as is the wifi and the television reception - which we were expecting. This was more than made up for by the frequent deer visits to the garden and being awoken by the chirring of nightjars. We were all sad to leave - including our cockapoo who refused to get in the car because she loved the garden so much! Hide

This property is ideal if you're looking for seclusion away from modern life. The cottage is a lovely, old estate workers cottage with a gorgeous large fire place. The garden is large and you are surrounded by wildlife. A great location if you want to read, write, sketch and play board games.

It is a lovely and well equipped property in a fantastic location but it IS really dirty. Lots of dust, cobwebs and spiders and the kitchen floor is absolutely filthy (wiped something up and the cloth was literally black!). It didn't spoil our enjoyment of our weekend too much but it would definitely benefit from a proper clean!!
