If you fancy staying somewhere that’s got picture-postcard looks, this rural bolthole for two plus one VIP (very important pooch) is the place for you. Converted from a former grain store within the owner’s estate grounds, it’s set in beautiful Kentish countryside, 1 mile from Charcott. Rustic and authentic-looking from the outside, it has an almost zen-like calm about the unfussy interiors with light decor, space and quality fixtures and fittings. Any hot dog will love finding a cool spot to curl up and snooze on the wood flooring downstairs. Guests can even use the owner’s swimming pool by arrangement in warmer months.
The spacious lounge area has comfortable seating, a wood floor and partial wood panelling and is a really elegant space. Wooden ceiling beams are painted, while throughout the kitchen/diner they’ve been left exposed. Cook up a holiday storm in the modern fitted kitchen to eat at your very own table for two. The whole property is decorated in light, bright shades which makes it feel very calm, just right for a relaxing retreat. Upstairs, the well-appointed king-size bedroom has lofty sloping ceilings with exposed beams and a Velux window for added light. Light, classic-style furnishings add to the stylish feel. Outside, there’s a furnished seating area to sit peacefully and listen to the birdsong with your faithful friend by your feet.
Walking is a key attraction here, and your dog will be in seventh heaven with all the lovely country walks practically from your doorstep. The pretty towns of Leigh (2.5 miles) and Chiddingstone (1 mile) are worth a mooch. Hever Castle & Gardens, the childhood home of Ann Boleyn, is 4.5 miles and dogs are allowed in the grounds on a lead but not in the house, so you’ll have to take it in turns to go inside.
