  • Situated on a peaceful cul-de-sac just 1 mile from Whitby

Property code: OC-W104

This modern property poses no problem for young or old joints (human or canine!) as it’s all on one level with plenty of room to manoeuvre. Offering two bedrooms and a fabulous enclosed garden as well, it’s ideal for a family group, one or two couples. It’s in a quiet location on the outskirts of Whitby, within 1 mile of the historic town centre and only a tiny bit further to the beach for walkies.

This detached bungalow is a great choice, offering bright and airy accommodation for a super comfortable self-catering break. Hard flooring throughout (wood and tile) is a brilliant option with a potentially mucky pup in tow. Entering the generous kitchen, make sure dog towels are to hand if your furry friend has been for a swim or the weather’s not playing ball. There’s all you could want in a holiday home from home, including a breakfast bar or alternatively, you can eat at the table seating four in the dining room. The large lounge is filled with light and is just the place to have a chat, watch TV or read a book. The sleeping quarters comprise one double and one twin bedroom with neutral decor and modern furnishings for a calm vibe. Let your pampered pooch potter about the large garden, having a good sniff, while you relax on the bench.

Climbing the 199 steps to ruined Whitby Abbey (1.5 miles) is a must, not least for the stunning views out to sea. Check out the busy harbour and learn about the links with Captain James Cook, or go mutts with your best furry buddy on the beach. For a different kind of sightseeing, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway goes from Whitby – and yes, well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome for a small fee.

The property is in a quiet area with very nice neighbours and close to Sainsburys and other small shopping facilities. Also it is close to Penny Hedge which is a Marstons restaurant and accommodation property. They do very nice food and the decor of the inside is pleasant. Its 5/6 minutes from town and all that Whitby has to offer.

The property was very good, clean and comfortable and the garden was absolutely beautiful - all credit to the gardener. Although the spec said towels were provided, there were no hand towels! I would have left a review in the book but I had no pen with me and couldnt find one in the house.

Where I have scored less was because the kitchen equipment was lacking.

The cottage was what I would describe as 'superficially clean', in that all the main surfaces and floors etc were spotless. However, on arrival there was a mouldy bag of potatoes in a cupboard and some of the baking trays in the kitchen cupboards were coated in grease, meaning that I had to wash some things before use. Also, on arrival the heating Read morehad been turned off, giving the place a cold, unwelcoming feel and there was no hot water available either. There was no information as to how to rectify this, so I needed to do a bit of guesswork/detective work on the evening of our arrival. Other than that, we were very pleased with the house and garden, and we would certainly consider staying there again if visiting Whitby. Hide

19 Heather Drive is well located with a very pretty, private garden which benefits from dark skies and is ideal for star-gazing. The house is well appointed, though the decor and bed linen are a little old-fashioned. The double mattress was not particularly comfortable...you can feel the springs! The prop
